Viking Cottage Reviews

Delightful cottage in the most beautiful of settings. Had absolutely everything we wanted! Perfect for a wedding, which some of us attended in The Village Hall. A magic day made all the better for being close by at Viking Cottage. We went on a wonderful hike to Smirisary and all over the Ardnamurchan peninsular. A wonderful visit to Tioram Castle and Larachmhor gardens near Arisaig both hidden gems. A really good base to explore the west coast and it's golden sand beaches. Views from the house are stunning and the accessible woods and headlands round about the house are just beautiful. Lovely safe garden for our dogs. Friendly and lovely staff at the next door Community Inn, which gave us a lovely meal one night. Thank you for a fantastic holiday!

A great cottage in the heart of Glenuig village. Very peaceful and salubrious location. The cottage was very clean and finished to a high standard with all the facilities we needed for our stay. Janet sent some great information over on the local area which was very helpful. Some lovely walks on the doorstep with fantastic views. Glenuig Inn next door was so welcoming and we had a few great meals and evenings there. Staff and locals really friendly. We loved our stay and could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend.

Our one week holiday in Viking Cottage was pretty much as perfect as it can get. The photos are spoton right, the property is right on the waterfront, and right next to the really friendly local community pub we had the joy of a live Jazz band one afternoon. The inside of the house is done up to the very highest standards, with everything you could need. The owner was extremely helpful with the EV charger, and probably anything else, if we'd needed it. There are plenty of places to walk to directly from the front door, with an amazing beach just up the road. All in all, thoroughly recommended.
The property location is superb with outstanding views. The cottage is very comfortable and was really warm and cosy. Also have to say the Glenuig inn next door was a bonus, really friendly and food was excellent. Also had live music on the Saturday evening which was fab.

We arrived at Viking Cottage just as storm Amy hit and unfortunately took out the electicity supply, for the whole area which, in an all electric holiday home, was a major issue. Mrs. Cain did all she could to mitigate the situation with extra temporary lighting supplied by her contacts in the area and we had a log stove, with a good supply of logs, which helped with heating, cooking and hot water. The worst aspect of the holiday other than the obvious problem with cooking, washing, lighting etc. was the changing of information from Scottish Electric about the fix date which after an initial 3 day promise of Monday evening, went to Tuesday evening, then to Wednesday evening finally fixing the issue at 9.00pm. So all in all we had power for one full day of our holiday Thursday ! If it wasn't for the storm we'd have had a lovely holiday as the cottage was generally very good in an area which we enjoy very much.
Beautiful location, views unreal. Cottage well equipped and had everything we needed..lots of lovely walks nearby. Would definitely return. Janet couldn't have been more helpful, answered all my questions on the run up to our stay and during our stay, she was amazing. Thank you so much.

Great cottage in a great location. Cottage had everything we needed for our two week stay, and the people in the local community were so friendly and welcoming it really made our holiday.
Perfect for a family holiday with 3 generations from aged 7 to 71. Walkable to an amazing beach, community shop, Ardshealach Smokehouse and the pub. Most outstanding of all was the proximity to Glenuig Hall. We all went to 2 concerts and loved the whole experience.
We stayed in this cottage two years ago and returned with our family which included our young granddaughters. We all loved our stay and the proximity to the beach. We would definitely return again.
Christine
Loved this holiday rental. Immaculately clean throughout. Very well equipped kitchen. Excellent communication with the owner who provided lots of detailed information. Every room was tastefully decorated and furnished. Location was excellent, next to friendly country pub with good food and service, views were outstanding and great local walks for the dog. We would definitely recommend this property. It's certainly the best we have booked for a long time.
Yvonne
A lovely house in a lovely spot, next to a great pub with great food. The house was really comfortable and equipped with everything you would need. All our party really enjoyed our holiday
Teresa
Viking Cottage is in a super, loch side, setting next to a busy Inn. There is a lovely beach five minutes walk away and with longer walks possible from the doorstep. Ideal beach for kayaking too. The kitchen was cosy for two families, but well stocked with plenty of crockery and cooking equipment and a decent freezer and fridge.
Viking cottage is a lovely place to stay and is surrounded by stunning Scottish scenery. Winners were the huge table for board games, wood burning fire, chairs to relax and watch the loch on and space in the porch for a mountain of wellies. There were so many things to do roundabout but we ran out of time!
Really nice cottage with suited the four adults and toddler. stunning location with views of the sea and landscape. beds were comfortable and linen clean. only thing I would recommend is replace the frying pan the nonstick doesn't work anymore. great break for our family though.
A fantastic cottage in an ideal location for a wedding at the village hall. It is a shame about the new build going up next door as it does spoil the view so of our party who were not able to walk far did have a restricted view. Would just suggest a lock on the downstairs bathroom would be good to save embarrassment. All in all a great place to stay
Caroline
We booked this cottage because of the location shown by the photographs. Unfortunately the view and privacy are affected by a new build which is being built in front of the cottage. The view of the bay is now very restricted and whilst we were there we were looking onto a building site. We wish we had known about this before as we most certainly would have changed our plans. The cottage is beautiful and really well equipped it is such a shame about the new build.
A lovely cottage clean, well equipped, homely. Love the supply of wood for the fire too
Teresa
The cottage is cosy and well equipped, and has lovely sea views from many of the rooms. It also has some attractive artworks, and is wellstocked with books, games, CD's and DVD's, so a pleasant place to relax. There are attractive walks right from the door plus many other attractive places to visit further afield. Would gladly return!
Heather
The cottage is very comfortable, with a view of a tidal loch which exceeded our expectations. It has special little extras like beautiful photos with Highland views and a tasteful, attractive painting in the living room, as well as a fantastic selection of games and books. We also loved the inclusion of some Scottish artists coffee table books. Very thoughtful and generous.
Fantastic weekend at the gorgeous Viking cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Amazing scenery and lovely walks with the grandkids and dogs. We can not recommend the Viking cottage highly enough. Will definitely be back for a longer stay 5 stars
A lovely cottage in an amazing area. Perfect setting to get away from it all and seeing nature and stunning scenery. The cottage is very well equipped, really comfortable beds and bedding, extremely clean and very warm too. The wood burner is amazingly effective and cosy if needed. Only once in our case. There is lots of information at the cottage but, if any questions crop up, the the owners are very approachable and helpful. This isn't the area to come to if you are wanting reliable wifi etc. but perfect if you are happy to truly take in the atmosphere and embrace it. No hesitation in recommending for a totally relaxing but uplifting break.
Samantha
Lovely house in a lovely location
A beautifully presented , comfortable , warm cottage in an idyllic setting. Just perfect . No hesitation in recommending. Good support and flexibility from the owners when we needed to flex our dates The nicest cottage all round weve ever found , we will return
Viking Cottage was a real treat. We spent 5 lovely days in February in this warm spacious house. We saw stags on the beach, rainbows over the sea and explored the surrounding area. Would love to go back.
We absolutely loved loved the cottage and loved the area it was in. It was clean, fresh and cosy. The views from it were dramatic and spectacular. Previous feedback mentioned that the owners had thought of everything and based on that I didnt take some basic cooking ingredients that I have found in previous accommodations ie oil, sugar, salt, stock cubes etc and there wasnt a supply. Thats not a criticism in any way but just useful for future tenants to know. Particularly good food in the area was The Lochailort Inn, Glenfinnan hotel and the Mingarry Park restaurant. As for what to do we loved the scramble to Smirisary beach, getting the boat to Eigg, watching the steam train cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct and finding Tioram castle. I also would recommend wildwood bushcraft mornings. We organised a private family morning and had a ball.
Katherine
Lovely cottage in a beautiful area . .. if its views and peace you want this place is perfect. Whilst there is a convenience store just 2 minutes walk away its only open 2 5 Monday to Saturday so thats worth bearing in mind for your first day. Theyve thought of everything in the cottage.
Graeme
Lovely cottage with very helpful owner in a great location
