Allt An Dorran Reviews

Your facts need to bring attention that a lot of facilities are either closed or not running out of season eg. Salam Hotel closed until 27th March which features highly in your advertising, some local Ferries not running i.e Mull etc. and other facilities either closed or closed permanently. Helpful Information package was more than useless We all felt the MaintenanceCleanliness of the of the property was of a poor standard and the upkeep of the garden e.g. wooden pallets in drive, rotten wood on steps and generally untidy. Very disappointed will not return.
Matthew
What a wonderful holiday home! Perfectly situated for otters, seals and eagles. Our party of seven really enjoyed the space and facilities, even if the house was a little bit too warm. The views were spectacular and if we did have an issue, the owner was on hand and sorted it straight away. We wouldn't hesitate to book again if we come back to Ardnamurchan which we likely will.
Gillian
A very spacious and extremely wellequipped property. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of seating around the house and good kitchen facilities. The weather was quite mixed when we were there, but it was good to have the wee bit of shelter along the back so we could sit out for a bit and stay dry while we watched the dogs have a wander about. Owner responded quickly to contact about a small concern and this was dealt with promptly. It was nice to have a credit of 10 with the local store, which gave us added encouragement to use the shop and support a local business.
We really enjoyed our stay at Allt An Dorran. The cottage is beautifully located, wonderfully quiet, and surrounded by stunning scenery. The house itself is comfortable and wellequipped. We were lucky with the weather, which made the experience even better. The only downside for us was the carpet throughout the house it felt less hygienic and there were some visible stains in certain areas. That said, it was still a fantastic stay overall and we would definitely recommend it!
Louise
A perfect quiet location with superb views over the loch. The house had everything we could have hoped for and more. The sun room gave us views over the loch and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed and we cook a lot! The village shop was well stocked with very friendly staff, as was the local pub. The garden was ideal for dogfriendly accommodation as it was fully fenced for the dogs and the gate to the rear led directly to a woodland walk. Superb views over the loch from the patio area with barbecue. Would definitely return. A fabulous holiday.
Dorothy
Has everything you could require for your stay, dining table chairs just need a little tlc as they are a little rickety. But overall that would not stop us booking again it was a fantastic cottage with wonderful views.
Vanessa
Truly wonderful place with outstanding view. Whole property was homely and welcoming we were not used to being so warm! Property was probably even better than described by Sykes. Great to have an area to play board games in in the evening and a different area to cosy in after a long day. The garden and woodland walk above were perfect for the dogs. Having a little shop in the village was great and there are others in close villages too.
Michael
Lovely location with great views over the loch. The property is very spacious and well equipped on the whole. However, the dishwasher wouldn't accept tablets which probably explained why some of the crockery in the cupboards were dirty. The biggest problems were the lack of an outside light in a very dark area and mould on the ceiling in the bathroom which put us off having a bath.
Fabulous property and location.
Great place to stay, very relaxing and like a home from home. Would definitely stay here again.
Michael
The house was well equipped and very spacious. Plenty of pots pans and glassware in the kitchen. It's in a great location with lovely views. Attractive grounds with shrubs but could do with some tlc. Pity the local pub stopped serving food at 5.30 but the Loch Shiel Hotel 3 miles was very good.
Jennifer
We had a wonderful week in Salen. The house is ideal for two families of four and had everything we needed. It has a gorgeous view over the Loch and we enjoyed some lovely walks. The information provided by Karen about the local area and suggestions on what to do, was really helpful. We had two great meals at the Salen Hotel and a lunch at Cafe Tioram. It's a great location for exploring. Thanks for a great stay!
Great spacious property, fantastic location with lovely views and easy access for sea swimming just over the road. Good communication from Sykes and from the owner. We would definitely like to stay again.
We had such a wonderful stay at your beautiful home. The house was excellent and had everything we could want and more. I will miss the views from the lounge the most. We hope to return again next year and continue to explore the area.
Pamela
Allt an Dorran is a lovely property. Spacious, well decorated, equipped and very comfortable. The location is great for exploring the peninsula and beyond. The views are fantastic and I have never seen such a starry night sky. The local people are very nice and friendly. Also the week we were there in October there were no midges or rained off days.
Location brilliant and views lovely. Accommodation very good with fabulous walks from the garden.
Absolutely stunning location, beautiful surroundings, property is superbly situated and local shops whilst small have fabulous local produce. We cant wait to book again.
A lovely place in a lovely setting a real joy to be able to stay Only issue was the ensuite shower it doesnt really work properly using the mixer tap and the water pressure is not strong enough which caused long queues in the morning for the main bathroom. Would definitely stay again though.
Loved our stay here, everything was well presented, a few issues, but nothing that spoiled our stay, ideal location to explore the area, peaceful, lots of wildlife very close, seals, otters, wished I had booked a longer stay, would recommend, and will certainly return.
Audrey
Allt an Dorran is a beautiful property, overlooking Loch Sunart. Everything we needed in a holiday cottage for a comfortable, relaxing break. Only slight problem we encountered was the dishwasher, which didn't seem to be working but with a view like that from the kitchen sink, it wasn't really a chore to wash up by hand! Would certainly recommend this property.
Elizabeth
We loved Allt An Doran! Having read the previous review, we were a bit worried but having stayed, we feel the review was extremely harsh and unjustified. The house is in a beautiful part of Scotland and the house has sensational Loch views. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the sun lounge with a cup of tea or better, a glass of wine, enjoying the views very relaxing. The house was homely and very comfortable with everything you need, including films, books and toys. It was very clean, the beds were really comfy, with 2 bedrooms having great views of the Loch. We loved the walk right out the back which was great for the dog. Shame the hotel was not open but great local shop along the road and a great tearoom in Acharacle, which has fabulous cakes and coffee. Would definitely recommend.
Michelle
We had a nice time in Scotland, but this property needs updating. There is ripped furniture, one TV doesn't work at all without a plug in device which is not provided, and the other kept loosing sound. When we arrived the whole property smelt musty. It also felt like you were in someone else's house, not something I've experienced from sykes properties before. There was lots of the owners things around including Mail, receipts, trumpets, food and note books. The kitchen cupboards needed a good clear out, lots of the mugs etc were dirty, lots of odd sandwich bags left etc. The fridge performed poorly and froze half our food, and the hob took an age to heat it. Would really benefit from an induction hob. The location of the property was a lot more overlooked than it appeared in the website images, and the road had lots of big lorries passing on it. As for seeing the northern lights from the property, it faces south! Overall the property was very overpriced including compared to similar properties in the area, but we made the best of it.
