Callart View Reviews

Christine
This property is dirty and poorly maintained. The occupants of one room were awakened by water dripping through the ceiling owner informed Carpets need cleaning. Benches inadequate for comfortable family meals. No chairs were available. TVs in bedrooms didn't have remote controls. Inadequate supply of pans in the kitchen and those which were available were filthy. Ovens dirty. The garden is not cared for. Numerous window boxes and plant pots had only dead plants and weeds in them. Rubbish bins were all full when we arrived housekeeper supposed to deal with this. Patio not swept and weedy. Central heating boiler not working when we arrived, but the engineer arrived promptly on Sat and again on Sunday. Such a pity to be surrounded by such a mess in such a beautiful situation. I will hesitate to book a Sykes cottage again if they market places such as this. This house was a disgrace and not worth the high price.
Lovely place and very well situated for hiking! We had a fantastic stay. There was some ashes on the floor in the living room, probably the wind blew through the chimney? Other than that, the place was clean and functioning. The kitchen is not the most well equipped, but functional.
Cottage was in an ideal location, not far from Fort William or Oban. Beautifully located on the Loch, the views were breathtaking. Parking was ample, but could benefit from better signage from the road. It suited our needs, although the kitchen could do with an refresh of utensilscookware. It would also benefit with a update of house guidancerules...like when the bins need to go out and where to put dirty laundry on departure.
Oven was difficult to work. No manual was available we found it later in an obscure cabinet. Contact person initially did not answer and when we did get ahold of hershe didnt know how to work the oven . Pillowsduvetmatresses seemed worn

It was overall a bit dirty when we arrived especially toilets etc. The house is spacious but not very comfortable, the furniture are a bit out of date, not a lot of kitchenwares given the size of the house, but nothing dramatic either. The staff was not very responsive they did reply eventually but quickly enough to make it useful. The views are stunning and the house is ideally located near great walks. There are shops nearby and despite being close to a small road, it's very quiet.
My family of six had a lovely two nights at this property. The view is unbelievable, the home is spacious and has everything you need! If we hadnt been wondering all around Scotland, we wouldnt stayed longer! The garden was lovely, beds comfortable, kitchen easy to use. Loved that there are so many wash rooms. The water is HOT! I set off the alarm trying to use the shower in my room. We all decided to use the downstairs shower. That may have just been a lack of understanding how it worked. Overall, we loved our time at this lakefront cottage!

The status of the cleaning was quite poor. Also, the home needs repairs in several rooms where water damage has occurred. There is possible moldmildew in at least 2 rooms. The decor in the house is quite odd and terribly mismatched. Also, most of the potted plants in the house were dead or dying. The house overall lacked care and attention to detail. The best thing about the house was the location. Also, it was nice that each room had its own bathroom. Other than that, it was a subpar experience.
A lovely little cottage with a stunning view and ideally located. Perhaps a little dated in places and a couple of beds could do with new mattresses but I think this is all reflected in the very fair pricing, The owner was very communicative too.
