Bourblach Reviews

Dominic
A really lovely cottage in a great location. Would highly recommend! Had a lovely week and kids loved access to the beach, and the house.
Kathryn
We had an unforgettable stay at Bourblach with an amazing view of the estuary. We have travelled Scotland far and wide for over 40 yrs and have always regarded it as our second home. It was a privilege to stay at Bourblach and learn about it's history. Sadly we had to leave after 12 days due to health issues and have decided this was our last trip up to Scotland but oh my What a Trip.!!!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this fantastic house. It is cozy, charming, and exceptionally quiet, offering a magnificent view over a stunning landscape. The house is perfectly equipped with everything you could need, including comprehensive kitchen supplies, a selection of books and games, a cozy fireplace, and a luxurious bathtub.
Susanne
Lovely house with stunning views. The house has everything you need. With its two comfortable living rooms it leaves space for everyone even in bad weather times. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. On the property there is a small hill where you can overview the whole bay. In low tide you can walk almost from one side to the other.
The cottage was fantastic, loved our stay here the position was wonderful with views to die for and with having 3 young children, the beach being so close was a big bonus . The house was well equipped and so comfy that on our only wet day in 2 weeks, staying in wasnt a problem . All the bedrooms are big and spacious with each having its own basin. The owner was delightful and easy to contact with any questions or problem being resolved quickly, I would highly recommend Bourblach and will be back . Superb cottage for a family get together.
Outstandjng location! We dont often have had a holliday house which was that clean & well maintained!

Shade and his wife were very responsive when we had questions or needed help with the boiler. Lovely home!

Bourblach is a beautiful house in a stunning location. It is big, yet cosy, with every amenity you could wish for. We had an amazing time there, despite the weather being less than perfect! We loved having some games to play when it was raining and the Sky tv was a big bonus too. There are numerous ways to get down to the beach which is only a few mins walk away. The sheep and lambs seem to like the beach too! If the weather is good, you could spend hours just sitting outside watching the changing seascape. Luckily there are amazing views from inside the house also. Bourblach is in a fantastic location for exploring the area. Mallaig is gorgeous, with great boat trips, train watching opportunities yes, the Jacobite harry potter steam train stops there, you can also see it from the house at 12.15 daily, which is a really nice surprise some great shops and numerous restaurants. Theres also a bakery that does incredible sandwiches on their own home baked breads. Jaffys smokehouse is great for smoked fish. We also travelled 35 mins to Glenfinnan dining car for dinner which was well worth it. The silver sands of morar were on my bucket list and they did not disappoint the sand really is silver! We absolutely loved Boublach and will definitely be back. The owner, Shade, is very lucky to have such a fabulous house. We had lovely communication throughout our stay. All in all, a brilliant holiday in an amazing house. Thank you!
One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. It was truly a home rather than a holiday let. Everything we needed with such a warm cosy feeling. The location was amazing with beautiful beaches and views. The information provided beforehand was exemplary. I can't recommend highly enough if you like peace and quiet and stunning landscapes. Thank you SO much for our very memorable stay!!
The location of the property was everything we could have hoped for. The views were stunning and we were able to explore the beaches close by when the tide was out. The property was comfortable and cosy and was well equipped. The communication was good between the owner and ourselves and we all enjoyed our stay.
Bourblach is absolutely wonderful, in the most beautiful setting. The house is very cosy and has everything you could need. This was our second visit and shall definitely be returning. The owners are really lovely and always very responsive if you have any questions. I couldnt recommend this property enough!

Amazing house in an awe inspiring location. Scenery and beaches of Morar are beautiful, I couldnt recommend this property highly enough
Everything just as advertised, really homely, great location and instructions really helpful. Had a fantastic stay.
Great cottage in fabulous location. Storm Ashley raged and roared around us as we snuggled up warm and cosy. Well eqipped, well furnished...a delight.
Weve just spent a wonderful week at Bourblach. The house is lovely, well equipped with wonderful views. Shade, the owner, was very helpful, answering our questions promptly. We love the area and would happily stay again.

Our happy place. My husband and have booked Bourblach for first week in September the last two years and have already booked for 2025. We have our 30th wedding anniversary there during our stay next year. It's the only time in the year we have time for just us. No plans except spending time chilling and looking at the Silver Sands as tide ebbs and flows from the amazing viewpoint Bourblach provides. Immersed in nature swimming in sea or walking on beaches on your doorstep life slows for a week. I always shed a tear when we leave but already looking forward to.next years visit. Thank you to Shade and Jude for being there if needed and providing such a magical place.
There are quite a lot of maintenance that needs doing ie the shower is broken and the head falls down all the time. Not enough large glasses, teaspoons or a usable frying panwe bought one in the end.Not enough clothes pegs and no wardrobe in the twin room. The chest of drawers in the twin room has the bottom of the bottom drawer falling out.In fact the whole chest needs replacing. These are all things that are easily put right. However that doesnt detract from the wonderful position and incredible views.
We had a wondeful stay at Bourblach. I highly recommend this place. Its a lovely cottage in a spectacular location, with plenty of space and all you could need. We all including the kids loved the house, the garden and especially the beaches which are just a few minutes down the hill. Communication with the owner was very good.
A beautiful cottage in an amazing setting. We had a very comfortable stay.
Hayley

We arrived in the dark and it was raining heavily and it was difficult to see the sign for Bourblach as it is off the main road so we did miss the entrance and had to double back but once there we had a fantastic time! The views were amazing and it was lovely to enjoy watching the weather change from a cosy and comfortable cottage. Everything was clearly explained through emails, welcome books and appliance instructions and we appreciated the welcome basket with flowers! We had amazing pizza from the Marina and lovely sausage rolls and croissants from the bakery. Skye was beautiful and we enjoyed perusing the local shops. A funny thing for us was the cottage had items which we had in our own home ! eg the dining table, place mats, soft toy etc We would definitely consider returning

This I am afraid has already been discussed with Sykes and the owners . This property was an Airbnb and this was never mentioned at all in the Sykes itinerary. Since further investigation it is on Airbnb website which directs you to Sykes. I have never booked an Airbnb before due to the nature of the contract and that its someones home, I have had negative outcome from Sykes cottages more of less suggesting that what I was stating was untruths .. There was food left in freezer mince dated 3823 but the owners have said this is untrue, i have not made this up.. no pat testing, books at the side of bed, wellington boots in hallway very strange if thats not an Airbnb I dont know what is !!! In time Sykes will understand and I am sure have more negativity with this accommodation on their books time will tell ,. The Scottish government have now brought in new laws that requires adaptation to properties such as this which I am sure you all ready know, if not you need to do some research. I have read reviews on your company since and even when people have provided evidence on their issues raised you have ignored .. simply not acceptable at all. This company has taken its finger off the ball!!! I would not recommend at all and will be mentioning this on as many platforms as possible
Thanks for a wonderful stay! Beautiful cottage, great facilities and wow what a location! The photos dont do it justice! Wed love to come back in the future!
Stopped for a week in June we found the property exactly as described the area is stunning. Just 2 miles up the road to the ferry terminal, shops and takeaways. The house is very well equipped.Lovely views and a welcome telephone call from the owner.
Bourblach is in the most wonderful location with absolutely stunning views. Really comfortable home from home cottage with all amenities and a well equipped kitchen. We didn't want to leave, it's wonderful and we highly recommend it.
The property and location were stunning. The convenience of the railway station made travelling a joy, that is, if you could tear yourself away from the fantastic beaches. It was an experience I will not forget and it will be difficult to find anywhere else so relaxing. I cannot thank the owners John & Elizabeth enough for allowing me to share their home.
We all had a wonderful time at Bourblach. We needed peace, lovely views, nature, gorgeous beaches, time together in the most special place. The owner rang to ensure we were settled in and we thought that was a wonderful personal touch we have never recieved from any other property we have stayed in! We saw the Jacobite Steam train every afternoon from the garden and the wonderful Silver Sands of Morar from the house. It is perfectyou have to go to see it for yourselves! Thankyou John and Elizabeth.
This was a wonderful property with a spectacular view. The owner had thought of everything and it was a very well equipped house with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We found all ihebinformation very helpful.
This is a really special place and we had a wonderful week enjoying it. Were already plotting a return visit!
The location of this property is, quite simply, breathtaking. Waking up to a view of the sea, mountains and the estuary was an utter delight. The beach, whilst a bit of a difficult clamber down some rocks for those less able, was utterly magical and well worth the effort. The house itself was immaculate well equipped, comfortable, clean and very cosy especially when we had lit the fire. The owner was helpful and responsive. Well definitely be returning!
We have just returned from a week at Bourblach cottage and it was one of the most relaxing peaceful breaks we as a family have ever had, its comfortable, warm, cosy and very clean. The views from the cottage are stunning and there is always something new to look at. The cottage is well equipped and has everything you could need while on holiday, whether thats a few nights or a couple of weeks. We stayed at Bourblach in February and we would love to visit in the summer and spend time enjoying the gardens and local area more with the warmer weather.
