The West Wing Reviews

We had an amazing week here, everything was absolutely spot on perfect many thanks
Theresa
The West Wing was comfortable, clean and spacious in a very peaceful location. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were several options for taking the dogs out including a lovely walk from the farm to the Speyside Way.
Beautiful house and area, owners are lovely and welcoming. There were lambs on the farm which my daughter and son loved to meet and even had a cuddle. There is so much in the area to see as well. Bird feeder in the garden was great attracted the usual finches and siskins, we had a visit from a greater spotted woodpecker too which was great to see so closely! Thanks Sammie and Malcolm
Thank you. Lovely new lounge set up completely new decor and leather recliner sofas. We had a wonderful stay a week in late August as a family. Ideal space for loads of activities. Any chance you could tune the piano? We would have played it even more!
Isabelle
The house was amazing and so we're the owners. Very friendly and helpful. My 9 year old son went for a ride on the tractor and their amazing dog Roy came to play with my son nearly every morning. This was my third trip to the Highlands but my first time at this property and it is the best stay I have had to date.
The West Wing, does not feel like rental accommodation, it feels like home. A warm, friendly, well equipped home. The offroad parking with lovely grounds and views wrap this home in a truly bucolic setting. There is no distubance from the farming activities and there is just enough going on to keep you fascinated. The hosts are wonderful, friendly, charming, are clearly dedicated to providing the best experience for their guests. The rooms are huge, high ceilings with tasteful decorations and furniture. Everything is bang up to date, clean, functional and a pleasure to use. Someone here has a talent for interior decoration. The location is perfect for day filling activities, Grantown On Spey has enough shopping to ensure you will have everthing you need, Nearby Nethy Bridge, Loch Garton are well worth a visit. Castle Roy and a huge Hairy Coo bull called Murdo are just down the road. This was one of our best holidays, we will try to return. And soon.
Absolutely first class and cannot be faulted. We have stayed at The West Wing before and have always been delighted with everything from the fine surroundings and facilities to the farm involvement made available to the youngsters. Thank you to Sam and Malcolm. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Alison
Lovely big old house with loads of space . Nice and warm too despite the size! The owners couldnt have been more helpful, lending us a bike pump when we forgot ours, and runs to bake a birthday cake. Comfortable beds and a decent shower are always appreciated, as they were here
We had a very enjoyable stay. The owners were very welcoming, the house was warm and comfortable, and very well equipped. It is a good area for exploring in all directions. We would be very happy to return and would certainly recommend it to friends.
A lovely, spacious property! Well equipped and impeccably clean, we felt relaxed and comfortable here and it was a home from home. Owners were helpful and accommodating. The welcome hamper was a warm welcome. Would highly recommend and would book again if we are holidaying in this area in the future.
The West Wing is an excellent, comfortable property, with good heating and facilities, in a wonderful location. Lots of good walks from the door, a bus service almost to the front door, and glorious countryside nearby. Only one very small criticism a good sharp kitchen knife would be great.
Alison

Sammie and Malcolm we're very welcoming and contacting them was easy. The cottage was warm and very comfortable and well appointed.
Charming well equipped farmhouse in a great location. The hosts were amazing and friendly and catered to our needs. They gave us a really interesting tour of the working farm that my boys enjoyed with an invitation to feed one of the calves. Lots of walks and sights and we will definitely be back as we only scratched the surface of this holiday farmhouse.
Michael
Second time at the West Wing, such a lovely home from home, with the additional bonus of the wild life. Spent lots of time watching the birds, coming to the feeders, outside the kitchen window, and deer and hares, in the fields. Owners are really friendly and welcoming. Great facilities and parking. Ideal touring base, there's plenty of local places, and a couple of hours drive gets you to some of the iconic Scottish castles, like Eilean Donan, Dunrobbin and Dunnottar. Would highly recommend this property.
Thanks for sharing half your beautiful 18th farmhouse with us. Loved the large rooms & elegant staircase. Well equipped kitchen. It has traditional character with modern amenities, and is a haven for wildlife only 5 mins walk from River Spey. Very peaceful yet has a bus service at the bottom of the drive with cheap fares.
There was plenty of space its light and clean. The garden is lovely and the bird feeder outside the kitchen window is an absolute treat for any bird lovers with Siskins being regular visitors. The owners are very friendly and helpful and it was a delightful stay.
Valerie
Great accommodation clean, spacious and well equipped. Perfectly located for exploring the Cairngorms National Park area. Tour around the owners farm was an unexpected highlight!
We had a fantastic holiday in the West Wing. The house is very big, unbelievably comfortable and very warm. It is a very beautiful farmhouse and is exceptionally clean. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the owners could not have been kinder or more helpful. There are fantastic views from every window and great walks straight from the door. This is a fantastic part of Scotland for wildlife and outdoor activities. It is also very close to Grantown on Spey for shopping and other amenities. Many many thanks.
Great accommodation clean, spacious and well equipped. Perfectly located for exploring the Cairngorms National Park area. Tour around the owners farm was an unexpected highlight!

Great space and facilities. Great help from the owners when our vehicle battery went flat, hearing the problem and lending us a battery charger without us having to ask.

Michael
What a lovely place The West Wing was, peaceful and tranquil and an ideal base for visiting attractions. Spent a lot of time watching the birds on the feeders outside the kitchen window. Quite a few different species and even got a red squirrel on morning of departure. Also seen deer in the fields and buzzards I think above the treeline behind the cottage. Hosts were friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend this cottage. Certainly planning on returning in the future.
Joanna
