Tulchan Lodge Reviews

This is a superb property. It has everything I want in a holiday house for a large group. There is loads of space and different areas for different groups to relax in. The kitchen, with the Aga, is warm, comfortable and well equipped. The furniture is comfortable and in good condition but because it shows a certain amount of wear and tear, one is not worried about putting down cups on tables or having children climbing on the furniture which they will. The countryside around the property is beautiful with many hiking options. The heating system is a bit idiosyncratic and had not been properly set up when we arrived but the ownermanager was easily contacted and sorted it out over the phone. Despite cold weather including some snow, the whole property was warm and cosy.

Lovely cottage ,but I think the pot holes need sorting out ,but had a brill time
Went here for a family get together, had a wonderful time in this fantastic house. Couldn't ask for a better place, can't wait to head back.
Patrick
I dont think the pictures on the website do this property justice. It is much more impressive in real life. It is big enough that there is space for lots of people to spread out but it retains the family home feel. It is very much what it claims to be a large Scottish Country House. It is not all pristine and perfect but that enhances the character. We spent a week here and loved it. No complaints.
This was a perfect place for our family to enjoy. The house was very unique which we love! We loved the location.
Ive already sent in a complaint with a list of what went wrong during our stay. Sent to complaints.
Debbie
Great house. Lots of space for a large group of adults and a toddler. Beautiful location. The house was very well equipped, with plenty of plates, etc for a large group. Mixed views regarding the comfort of the beds. Some of our party said the beds were really comfortable whilst others said their beds could do with a new mattress. The house is comfortable and feels lived in. As previous reviews have said, the road up to the property is bumpy. However, that is expected when you're going to a house off the beaten track. We had several cars and motorcycles who all navigated the road with no problems. The owner quickly responded when we had a problem with one of the showers. We would definitely return to the property if we needed a large house again. Thank you.

This was the PERFECT spot for a writers retreat. Quiet, cozy, so many areas to write and chat and read. A fantastically equipped kitchen, plenty of bathrooms for people to be comfortable. Some people said their beds were comfortable. Others could use new mattresses. But other than that, plenty of towels, scenery for days, areas to sit outside, and the host was easy to reach when needed. Would 1010 stay again. We were all incredibly sad to leave and will have fond memories forever.
Maureen
We had a fantastic time at Tulchan Lodge celebrating my mums 80th birthday with family. The house was just perfect and the weather was great so we could enjoy sitting out at the fire pit in the evenings.
Michael
Tulchan Lodge was a wonderful place to stay, accommodating 9 adults and 6 children very comfortably. The bedrooms were spacious some also had beautiful views and there were plenty of clean, wellfunctioning bathrooms. The kitchen was also well equipped. We made use of the many seating areas, including the outside terrace with beautiful sunset views. The area surrounding the Lodge provided a few options for walks, including many kinds of wildlife to keep us interested, and the kids enjoyed Hide and Seek in the expansive garden. Would highly recommend!

We had a great week in Tulchan Lodge. It is really good for a large group as there are various different living areas. Warm and cosy too and plenty fridge freezer space which is always welcome for a large group self catering. We enjoyed the fire pit and surrounding seating area too.
Had a fantastic stay here , everything you needed was there for you , very comfortable for a nice chilled weekend . . only one small issue with a wee step as you come from boot room , maybe a bit of tape to make you aware of it ..
We enjoyed a great weekend here with all the family. The house was lovely and the garden was beautiful. The large kitchendiner was very cosy with the Aga to warm it. We had to put the heating on for the other rooms though. Lounge was very comfortable and we enjoyed the log burner there. Everywhere was clean and fresh and we appreciated the wine and snacks that were provided. The location is absolutely stunning with great views all around the property. Our only complaint was that the shower in one of the ensuites wasn't usable, as the tray didn't drain.
The house was good for what we wanted it for big enough for 17 family members but it is so over priced for what it is. The people were very friendly and allowed us early access which was really appreciated but the place was minging. Obvious areas such as counters were clean but the place was overrun with flies both dead and alive and there were cobwebs everywhere, especially over the windows etc. The decor and furnishings are very tired with many items ripped and stained. The bathrooms were all very old not fashioned as in quaint but really old power showers with varying water pressure etc. The whole place just needs a bit of TLC and in the mean time theres no way it should be charging the price it is. I think were it less to hire we wouldnt have had so many complaints but for that price you expect better.
Cleanliness was poor. Furniture had not been moved. Shower tray on top floor was blocked. There were dead flies and cobwebs in many rooms. When we wiped tables before use, they were dirty. Beds were clean. Nice large dining room and table.
We loved this house, it was much better than we expected, the rooms were all lovely and clean with plenty of space and comfy beds and lots of bathrooms made our stay really pleasant. We used the dining room a couple of times and it was brilliant to have such a large table and space for everyone to sit together. Lots of fridge and freezer space was great, and the kitchen is definitely the hub of the house. The outside area was great too, and we made use of the BBQ and outside seating area, the garden was nice and clean and tidy and the views over to the west were absolutely stunning in the evenings. My only points to feedback on are 1. The bird poo, we loved watching the birds going in and out of their nests but there was a lot of bird poop on the windowsills and balcony. 2. Could do with some more space in the kitchen for storage, maybe consider moving all the big dishes from the tall cupboard into the welsh dresser leaving more space in the cupboards for food storage.
Pamela
Great place to get together with family & friends, no shortage of crockery, plenty of chairs to seat everyone, plenty room outside for kids to roam and play, great views.
Christopher
Perfect lodge for a family or group outing. A great space for relaxing and socialising with plenty of local attraction for a day out. Great outdoor space and views from the garden. As a large group of friends with kids and dogs this was perfect for a weekend away to catch up! Highly recommend
Isabel
Great property! Spacious, warm and just what we needed! The Aga kept us all nice and cosy. The house was clean and we arrived to a beautiful welcome hamper which is a nice touch. We could really tell that the owner takes care of the place and thinks of the guests. Peaceful place with beautiful views. We had to be careful of the stairs as there is no banister on one side this would have been a bigger issue if the kids were younger.
Nichola
We had an amazing time here and would highly recommend Tulchan House. We were there for a family get together everyone had a great time we had everything that we needed in the house. We are even looking at dates to when we can all return
Nicholas
Wonderful house for family gatherings and big groups. Great spaces for eating and relaxing. Beautiful view. Was feeling a little unloved however grass not cut in months, bbq absolutely filthy, dust and grime around in the kitchen.
Victoria
The house is fabulous. My friends and I booked the house to spend a week together with our families. There were 9 adults and 7 children. The house and gardens provided all the space and amenities we needed to enjoy our week together. The gas BBQ and fire pit were an added bonus and we enjoyed most evenings in the garden in the sunshine. The surrounding area also provided fun and entertainment for all ages. A brilliant week thank you!
My family of 16 have just had a fantastic long weekend break at Tulchan Lodge, aged between 4 years to 80 years old. The space is great, much larger than we expected with 3 areas down stairs to all spread out, excellent dining room and all the bedrooms more than adequate. One small improvement that we felt would be an advantage to us would of been to have a larger tv in the beautiful kitchen or possibly an additional tv in one of the other lounge areas. But it wouldnt stop us returning, we hope to be back soon
The house was absolutely fantastic and perfect for our stay. We had a fabulous time. Only thing we missed was a hairdryer we forgot ours and perhaps a bigger toaster.
Abdool Wahab
Place was wonderful Very cosy and well equipped and warm

Overall a Brilliant memorable stay for everyone in our group of 16! ! Heda, the caretaker was in touch right from the start and was there at the door to welcome us and give us all details. She was easy to get in touch during our stay and was very helpful. The Lodge is well stacked with all amenities for a big group and they are of a good standard. The rooms are big and sometimes need the additional heaters provided. The three public rooms downstairs are very warm and comfortable. The lodge could be better signposted from the road as there are so many accommodations with similar names and the Satnav stop in the middle of the road. Overall great value for money. Would love to come back.
This accommodation is absolutely stunning, I highly recommend and would book again in the future. Top marks all round.
The lodge was everything we expected and more and the people we had dealings with were friendly and helpful. The house was clean and reasonably comfortable. The family enjoyed their stay and would not hesitate to book the lodge again.
Laurence
Great place, spacious and clean Being picky would have been good to know that garden buildings were under construction. Two of the three doors to the property had difficult locks to close Lots of light bulbs out However epic place and would stay again
Stuart
Had a brilliant weekend here with friends and family. Met all our needs, very comfortable and extremely spacious.
On arriving at Tulchan Lodge you are met with a stunning view of the house, the landscape and wow! The house has all amenities needed for us as a group of 10 including 4 children aged 515. Plenty of crockery, beds, bathrooms etc
We hired the house for my friends hen weekend. We were met on arrival and although there were a few wee things that had happened that day like one shower not working and wifi issues, these were all raised straight away and really did not impact our stat at all. The house is amazing would definitely recommend for large groups, would be perfect for dogs as well as there as walks from the door. The description is spot on could not have been better. If arriving in the dark take care to read directions as there are a few Tulchan turn offs but clear during the light hours. Loads of space and very confortable! Would use again.
Allison
The site offers a great variety of properties to suit all occasions. The last place we stayed was amazing. Already book to go away in May and are looking to book again next October.
This is perfect. Stepping out the door into the Perthshire countryside with views over to the mountain skyline and the farmland. I loved how rural it felt, and at night the lack of light pollution meant the stars were so visible it was possible to see the milky way, which is a first for me. That the house has a dedicated firepit surrounded by seating allowed us to stand around the open fire while we sampled some classic single malts. The house has stylings of a hunting lodge with the entrance hall splitting the rooms, to the left is the seated area leading to the main dining room. To the right is the kitchen diner tv room leading to the conservatory overlooking the stunning views and firepit. Bedrooms are all to a good standard, one double comes with a balcony that is on the room of the conservatory, another has the ensuite in the turret which is pretty cool. We were met by Heda, who gave us great advice on food, sights etc and made sure we knew our way around the facilities. All in all, we'd love to go back anytime
Tulchan Lodge was fabulous. The setting is beautiful, it was well equipped and the housekeeper was very attentive. For info, while we were there we had the piano tuned and repaired by a very accommodating and skilled piano tuner it is not quite concert pitch but was sufficient for our musical needs. Some things to note at 5.30 a.m. every day a very noisy farm vehicle quad bike type drove past take earplugs TL is next to a working farm, so some noise was to be expected The kitchen is really really! hot because of the Aga Two of the beds needed attention, very noisy we had to have our mattress double bed in the balcony room on the floor to make it bearable someone had put some plasterboard yes really! under the mattress so there was clearly an awareness of this issue which should really be fixed. One of the single beds in the room next door to ours was also squeaky it looked like someone had made these beds themselves using old iron frames which could explain why they weren't up to scratch The internal doors are presumably fire doors and very heavy. This meant they slammed a lot some kind of slow closing mechanism would improve this Arrival time is 4pm not 3pm as it says on Sykes website I had no reason to disbelieve the housekeeper when she told me she has told Sykes many times, yet they still publish 3pm arrival time. All in all we had a brilliant time despite the minor niggles noted above which I include to be helpful, and hope the house owner takes note and acts on this feedback, where appropriate. I would highly recommend TL, and the price was reasonable for the size of property which easily accommodated all of us.
Robert Eric
The lodge proved to be a great setting for a long awaited family get together. The outdoor fire pit was the centre of our event. As such it Is the one area where comfort and utility improvements could be made. The house itself was very comfortable. The bedrooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The showers were extremely strong, more en suites would be helpful but we all managed just fine. Al in all, we had a great weekend and I would highly recommend this venue to others.
Kathleen
Tulchan Lodge is set around 0. 5 miles up a farm track, and had the most beautiful views of the hills and fields. The only noise that could be heard was that of the neighbouring livestock and birds. There was a party of 13 of us 11 adults and 2 children and at no time did we will that we were on top of each other. The dinning room was fantastic for family meals and the hub of the home, the kitchen could again accommodate all of us very comfortably. It was also really important to have the 5 bathrooms, each provided with towels etc for showering. The house had some may aspects to it that I feel I cannot put into words. If you are looking for that ultimate get away from City lifeWorkMobile Phones and Technology well Tulchan Lodge is for you.
Catherine Anne
We had a lovely holiday as an extended family group in this very comfortable house in a beautiful location. A great deal of care had gone into preparing the house for our visit. The kitchen, lounge and dining areas were well appointed and the bedrooms were all spacious and restful. The only slight issues we had with the kitchen were that the normal oven seemed to be a little temperamental and the kitchen working surfaces were a bit limited for a large group although, as I say, these were minor matters, and the oven was much less of a problem than it could have been because the aga was available, which made the kitchen very cosy and warmed the whole house. We took a dog and she had a wonderful time in the large, secure garden area. We also very much enjoyed using the fire pit wood kindly provided. We would like to send a special thanks to Heda, who looks after the house, for going above and beyond the call of duty in providing a wonderful sea chest for Captain Mitchell, whose uniform is displayed in the dining room by means of a lifesized mannequin. The children in the party and some of the adults too! had lots of fun exploring the contents of the chest, which included games. activities and a log book for them to write about the Captain's adventures. An altogether memorable holiday we would love to return to Tulchan Lodge at some point in the future.
The lovely lady managing this let is super friendly and extremely helpful.
