Red Deer Lodge Reviews

Elaine
Lovely property in a perfect location for walking and outdoor activities. Very peaceful if that is what you are looking for. Shops etc are about 2030 mins drive to AviemoreKingussie. The property has everything you need. The outside sitting areas off the living room and the balconies off the bedrooms are an added bonus. We will definitely stay here again.
Great property, lots of kitchen stuff, bike wash a winner.

Absolute gem of a place ,cleanliness let it down spent my first day cleaning ... Absolute gem of a place ,cleanliness let it down spent my first day cleaning ,when we first arrived on the surface things looked clean apart from the floors ,to be fair when I go away I usually wash some of the dishes ,cutlery etc went into cutlery drawer and the spatular looked as tho it hadnt been cleaned one side looked ok the other side was full of food that had not been washed off ,oven looked really clean on first glance but there had been a spillage that had just been left ,we cleaned it best we could ,saying this it was peacefully and just what the dr ordered to be fair I would return as loved the actual place itself

Our first visit after 2yrs of trying elsewhere and on return still feel the cleanliness of the lovely lodge was less than impressive, cobwebs in corners & hanging from ceilings, the washing machine drawer was dirty with mould we had to bleach it prior to using. ..tumble dryer didn't work. We also moved the table to prevent wee one knocking into it & on lifting the rug the amount of dirt & debris clearly pointed out it hadn't been cleaned in a while. A bit disappointed overall
Elaine
The lodge was gorgeous. We will definitely be back. It was comfortable and lovely to come back to after a busy day Lots of things to do within a 20 min drive and gorgeous walks from the doorstep.
In a great location, comfortable and clean lodge with really good facilities for the family to be a home from home.
George
Great location and accommodation for a family holiday. Better than expected by far, would definitely use either holiday home or Sykes Holidays again.
Stephen
Red Deer Lodge was probably the best holiday home we have ever stayed in. It was extremely comfortable, immaculately clean and tidy, welldesigned, superbly equipped and was the perfect base for exploring the Cairngorms and beyond. We particularly loved how peaceful and tranquil it was. We would definitely recommend it to others.
Beds were comfortable but duvets could be warmer. How to work the cooker could do with some more instructions as it was difficult to work. We did manage after switching on & off a few times but the kitchen facilities were very good. The lodges are in a very beautiful area, big windows with lots of natural light coming through, great holiday that would appeal to families & dog friendly which was a big plus for us.
Andrea
Great place to stay and excellent facilities,

We have stayed many times and they lodge is very well equipped but this year did ... We have stayed many times and they lodge is very well equipped but this year did find the soft furnishings not up to usual standard
We had such a great weeks stay at red deer lodge! The lodge was beautiful! We loved the wood burning stove! Kitchen was fully equipped. The beds were comfy, the lodge clean and the bathrooms really spacious. Surrounded with lovely walks we had the perfect week. My only feedback would be to maybe have a fence to let dogs out to the toilet, because its a bit of a hassle getting the dogs harnesss and lead every time to go out to the toilet! And maybe a baby gate for the bottom of the stairs to keep dogs downstairs? But other than these minor things we had a fab week! Would love to come back again
Absolutely perfect! Thank you for a WONDERFUL place to truely escape to. A calm haven nestled in the forest ready to explore the spectacular area. The best nights sleep I ever had away from my own bed!
Lovely lodge and a fantastic location. Very private and loved the outdoor fire. The Lodge was very well thought out and the balconies where an added bonus. The only downside was one of the beds was broken and there was no lighter for the fire. It was very clean and had every utensil you could ask for. Definitely will be back I would imagine it would be stunning in the winter.
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Red Deer Lodge. The lodge was very clean and most importantly so warm and very well insulated. We had some international visitors with us and they commented how warm and bright the accommodation was. The only request I would have is if the owner can provide maybe a pint of milk until the lodgers can settle and do a proper shopping and perhaps more cleaning products for the bathroom for us to keep the place clean during the stay as well as few more rolls of toilet paper. Otherwise all is good and I would definitely come back again.
1. Great house we enjoyed our stay and the blocked shower drain was soon sorted thank you. 2. My daughterinlaw said there was nowhere to sit in front of a mirror to apply makeup. The bedroom had been designed by a man in her own words. The mirror was in the wrong place upstairs double room. 3. The light at the bottom of the stairs is way too bright and needs to be dimmed. The children wanted the light on and the adults, in the evening, found that light to be a real annoyance. You could not relax with it. We assumed that it was a daylight blue bulb because it was so bright. 4. You might like to check the kitchen sink waste pipe, which we thought was about to block up. It made some really strange gurgling sounds. 5. A few more cushions in the lounge might be handy to create more comfort. 6. Some members said they could smell 'dog smells' in the house. None of us keep dogs and we assumed that the covers over the sofa and chairs were to accommodate dogs. Do these covers get washed before the next visitors? I have a very poor sense of smell, so it didn't bother me. 7. If you had supplied a sweeping brush with a long handle we would have swept the floors during the week but we couldn't find one. 8. The location is superb and very convenient for everything we wanted to do. When the drain blocked the repair was done very efficiently and did not impact on our holiday. Looking out over the woodland was a delight each morning.
Overall the property was great, fab location and nice and peaceful. There us loads of stuff to do nearby which is also good. The properties were private and had more than enough room for 7 adults to fit comfortably It could have done with a bigger sign as the property was a tad difficult to find as well as some lights to illuminate the pathway around the houses at night. The beds were a touch soft for our groups liking but that is just personal preference.
The lodge was lovely and well equipped, we really enjoyed our stay . Any issue was dealt with immediately and resolved . Thankyou for a memorable holiday.
Lesley
Great location and setup for an active family holiday in Cairngorms biking & kayaking. Lodge spacious & well designed. Log fire on at night. Kitchen induction hob poor as reset itself to low temps when more than one ring on. It may be oven settings could be changed.
Suzanne
We stayed in Golden Eagle lodge in May 2022 so knew that Red Deer lodge wouldnt disappoint. Great location, perfect for exploring the Cairngorms national park. Close enough to Aviemore by car for supplies but still peaceful and remote. The lodge is lovely, well appointed and comfortable. I had the upstairs double room this time which I loved did take me a day to get used to the sloping ceiling though! Only slight issue we had was lack of toilet roll no spare rolls were supplied. Just as well we brought some just in case I sure we will return here again in the future.
Sharon
Weve been using Feshiebridge for 30yrs RAF and wow
Vienna
Lovely little area peaceful with amazing views. The lodge was clean, tidy and had a beautiful layout. The log burner was amazing and kept us all warm no need for heating. Will definitely be returning
Carolyn
We absolutely loved our stay. The property was just lovely and in such a nice, peaceful location! It was so cosy and comfortable. Couldn't fault it at all.
Lovely stay at Red deer lodge, lodge and surroundings are lovely. The lodge was comfortable and well equipped. Opinions for improvement dog safe area as our dog did tend to wander when doors were left open. Cleaning equipment would have been a good idea as we feel we like to leave accommodations how we left them. Dishwasher tablets and washing detergent for the washer would have been good too. Overall very happy, would definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you for your hospitality.
Great location for peace and quiet. Plenty of short walks available from the lodge or longer walks a short drive away. Bike wash doubles up as a dog wash which was great for our occasionally dirty dog
The holiday homes are beautiful in a great setting. Would definitely return. My only areas for improvement would be they definitely need more seating for a holiday home that sleeps 8. The cooker and hob are not good, hob very difficult to work and oven doesnt cook as expected very inefficient so needs to be at least 30 degrees higher. Washing machine also poor and trapped our clothes inside. Would recommend entrance matting in the properties front and back as impossible to stop anything being walked into hallway as little mat isnt any good would also protect your flooring.
Brilliant we've booked it again for the fourth time
Richard
All excellent. As a retired and pensioned member of the RAF, would like to think we could also get some discount, but in the meantime happy to book to lodge anc hopefully find some discounted periods out of peak season.
Andrew
Lovely location of this property only downside for us was being a party of 8 adults because there's not enough lounge seating for all 8. Good job we took camping chairs and a camping bed. It would have been a bit more tidier if the overgrown grass at the rear had been cut or even slabbed so there is somewhere to sit in the sun because the outdoor seating area is in total dark shade. The bathrooms need hooks on the back of doors there's literally nowhere to hang anything. No bbqs allowed but there is an outdoor log burner. no logic there. Overall we had a good break but we were overcrowded.
Stephen
Lovely accomodation, setting and walks. Only negative, bins not emptied so an overflow of rubbish.
Had a lovely stay at Feshiebridge a great spot for exploring the local area, with lots of activities and places of interest within easy reach. The lodge is well equipped with high quality furnishings. The only observation we have is that from the perspective of a group of friends, the bedrooms would have benefitted from all being twins. The two doubles and sofa bed are far more suited to couples. Sleeping 8 is a stretch because of this. Living area furniture definitely doesnt accommodate 8.
We had a wonderful stay at the Red Deer Lodge. A lovely peaceful location with endless walks from the doorstep. We found the lodge was clean and comfortable. Was lovely sitting out with the log burner at the evening taking in the scenery around. Would definitely recommend it.
A superb modern and comfortable lodge built to a very high specification, ideally situated in the Cairngorms in a peaceful forest location close to endless walks through the stunning landscape. The excellent Loch Insh outdoor centre and Boat House restaurant are with walking distance 2miles with facilities at Kincraig Village and Aviemore being only a short drive. Ideal for a family holiday. Superb
Jillian
We had a wonderful stay at Red Deer Lodge. The location is beautiful and peaceful with woodland walks right on your doorstep. The birds visiting the garden were a highlight, we had daily visits from 2 Crested Tits, treecreepers, woodpeckers and many more. The lodge was clean, cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. Can't wait to book our next trip!
The property itself is lovely and the area is beautiful and peaceful. Walks on your doorstep. Unfortunately the hob still wasnt working so we used electric plug in hobs supplied. The house was clean although we needed to wipe out the kitchen cupboards due to dog hair and dust present still. The washingdryer machine was a big problem. It appeared Someone had previously washed and dried their dog bedding in this and it wasnt cleaned before we arrived. This took us over 30 minutes to remove and wash the inside of the washing machine of hair clogging up the machine. Overall we did have a nice time.
Caroline
Great property overall. Well furnished with comfortable beds and a great additional sofa bed in the main room. It is excellently located, with local walks and access to nearby activity centres. We had an issue when we were there with a ceiling leak which left us without ceiling lights for half a day. However, the RAF Central Fund team enabled it to be sorted the next day.
Brilliant stay at Red Deer. 3 families took 3 lodges over New year and had a great time. The place was very clean and plenty of equipment. Lovely area too. The hob did not work sometimes but there was an electric hob supplied. Thank you for a wonderful holiday
We had an utterly amazing time at Red Deer lodge. We really fell in love with the beautiful location which was amazingly peaceful and very picturesque. The lodge is very spacious and is well stocked with everything you could need. It is beautifully designed with an open plan kitchen and lounge area and 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 with balconies looking out into beautiful forestry. Lovely large windows throughout for enjoying the beautiful views. All of the soft furnishings and accessories are from John Lewis, a very stylish touch. We so enjoyed sitting in the balcony in the morning enjoying a coffee and beautiful views. There is decked area accessed through the lounge and also a side door so was great for bringing bikes and dogs through, theres garden furniture as well so we often sat in that area in the afternoon looking out into the forest area. It was so peaceful with birds singing throughout the day, simply amazing. Theres a further deckedcovered area at the main entrance which was great for storing jackets and shoesboots etc. The only problem we encountered was with the induction hob, could only get one of the rings to work, wasnt sure if the issue was with the hob or the pots and pans. We will definitely be returning to the lodge in the future.
Claire
Nice accommodation, comfortable beds, walk in shower particularly good, well equipped kitchen. The accommodation was of a high standard but there are a few points that would make it even better. Need some hooks to hang stuff up in the bathrooms, need a better mirror in the upstairs bathroom, an enclosed area at the back of each property so dogs don't wander off around other properties, and need some egg cups. There were only 4 of us staying so sofa and easy chairs fine but would be tight if more staying. And wifi a bit of a palava.
