Mullach Ruadh Reviews

Elizabeth
Mullach Ruadh was a great place to stay for the week. It was spacious, very clean and beds were really comfortable. 2 ensuites and a 3rd bathroom meant no queueing for showers of toilets! it was also very quiet too, being set above the road. The kitchen was so very well equipped for us to cook our own meals. The views from the house were super, and we did enjoy sitting out one day too! It was a super place to relax at the end of the day! Angus, who looks after the house ,was very friendly and welcoming. He was brilliant at looking after us and making sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed our chats with him too. We were 3 couples staying for a week to climb Ben Nevis for charity. I confess, I thought the bungalow was in Corpach, just 4 miles outside Fort William but hadn't read all the details correctly. it is actually about 17 miles out and a half hour drive. However we didn't mind this at all there are supermarkets in Fort William for supplies, but no shops locally. We thoroughly recommend this property. Clean, well maintained, quiet and very relaxing.
Stuart
Very comfortable with all the utilities we needed. Very steep drive to the property which for some cars may not be usable. Angus was on hand to help. Your directions to the property need updating, this was frustrating on arrival. The handbook in the property also needs updating as some of the information was incorrect.
Joanna
We had a lovely week in this beautiful house with outstanding views. The property is well equipped and very clean. The super king bedrooms ensuite is probably ready for a makeover. Everything else was super, made extra special by the beautiful weather. Really nice to meet Angus, he was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Mullach Ruadh.
Mullach Ruadh is a beautiful cottage with stunning views. The inside decor is very tastefully furnished. It was a delight and very spacious.the decking runs all along the front with exceptional views. Angus the caretaker was very helpful and a gentleman. Plenty to do ....dining at station carriage in Glenfinnan during the day and Wednesday evening...recommend to book. The Higland soap company is a lovely place to visit with a good cafe.Inverlochy Castle Roux brothers afternoon tea.Loch Shiel boat cruises saw stag on the mountains and white tailed and golden eagles.Drinks can be purchased on board ..wrap up warm. Ben Nevis inn for lunch.Fort Augustus was a beautiful drive along the loch. Wonderful week in beautiful Mullach Ruadh.
This is a wonderful house, beautifully decorated and furnished, extremely comfortable and well equipped. Angus, the house manager, couldnt have been more helpful. It was a pleasure staying here.
Extremely well cared for property, excellent facilities and very cosy. Excellent cottage. In convenient location for walking and the coastal areas.
What an enchanting place we found in Glenfinnan at Mullach Ruadh. Beautiful vistas from the porch and the kitchen and the living room delightful neighbors and comfortable accommodations. The house was close to Glenfinnan Station and even closer to the bus stop without a car we were still able to move about easily. We had delicious meals at the Dining Car and at Glenfinnan House. The kitchen at Mullach Ruadh had everything we needed when we wanted to make our own meals. We really enjoyed getting to know Angus, the caretaker, who lives nearby. He was so attentive throughout our stay, helping us in a wide variety of ways. And we loved hearing his stories he has so much knowledge of the area. We stayed two weeks, and could easily have stayed longer. We are already planning our next visit!
Mullach ruadh is in a superb location by Glenfinnan, set amongst mountains and lakes. It had all the facilities we needed and more. The kitchen was impressively equipped. A touch of luxury! Angus, the housekeeper was on hand to resolve one minor issue that occurred. Highly recommended.
Graham
One of the best places we have stayed in! The place was spotlessly clean, and well equipped, with everything being of a real high quality. Superb view out of the lounge window too.
Lovely property, and great location from which to explore the surrounding area from the white sandy beaches in the west, to Glencoe and Loch Ness a little further on. On your doorstep there is a great walk down to the famous viaduct and lovely Loch Shiel. Angus was very welcoming, and we appreciated the shortbread. Our boys couldn't access the streaming apps from the TV, but had laptopsphones, so they were happy too. Thank you.
Carina
We loved our stay here, great location and house for our group. Lots to explore on the doorstep or a short drive away. Clean rooms, good kitchen, lots of games to amuse the kids in the living room. Highly recommend!
Excellent stay at Mullach Ruadh as always. Beautiful and wellmaintained house with all necessary amenities. Great welcome and support provided by Angus the caretaker.
Eileen
This is our 3rd stay at Mullach Ruadh for Christmas. Its so comfortable and spacious and has everything you could need for a family group. We have made wonderful memories at this beautiful property. And the biggest plus is Angus. He is so helpful before your arrival and whilst you are there. Thanks again Angus. Eileen Calder and family
Joanne
We really enjoyed our stay. The location and views are fantastic! The property and facilities are comfortable and clean. Angus was brilliant! Would thoroughly recommend!
Alison
My Husband & I were highly impressed by this beautifully decorated & presentable property, both in the inside & also in the beautifully kept garden areas with the added bonus of a veranda stretching the whole length of the property with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. We also thoroughly enjoyed taking our morning coffee out on the lovely picnic table while enjoying such views & just listening to the birds in total peace & quiet! We were sorry to leave! We would especially like to mention Angus, the house keeper who was so welcoming to us when we arrived & such a gentleman, he was very helpful with any questions we had & the special touch of lovely shortbread & freshly cut flowers for us on arrival was very much appreciated. Many thanks again & we hope to return this beautiful property in the future, it has everything you would need for a great holiday.
We could not have picked a week with more rainfall that this one. What a difference a wonderful comfortable cottage with all amenities needed like Mullach Ruadh to make our stay one of the best. It was a family holiday so having a well maintained cottage beautifully furnished was just perfect. We would like to thank the owners for making their home available to us and Angus for his help and support throughout our stay. Of course the lovely shortbread was much appreciated too Angus. The cottage is in an ideal location and the ever changing weather created the chance to get some amazing photos of the beautiful view. The garden are also well maintained. We hope to be back sometime in the future.
Lauren
Mullach Ruadh is by far the best house weve ever stayed in. Everything we could have needed and more, high quality kitchenware and amazing pillows that Im now buying for home!. Angus was lovely and the house was perfect for us, its a shame we couldnt make full use of the garden due to weather but the views are stunning. Perfect location for exploring the surrounding area and quiet despite being on the main road and next to the railway line. Would love to visit again one day my daughter was actually quite upset when she realised we had to leave!
Outstanding property and location. Couldn't fault a thing, and the caretaker Angus was fantastic start to finish. Highly recommended and would book again.
Brenda
Fantastic location with lovely views. Everything you need for a fantastic holiday with great facilities and little things to make your holiday more special such as the tin of Scottish shortbread left for us. Angus could not have been more helpful. A fantastic place and would go back if going up to that area again
This is now our favourite holiday destination. The house was absolutely beautiful, it had plenty of space and everything we needed. The view was amazing! Angus was incredibly helpful with anything we needed help with. I can't wait to go back!! Thanks again for a fantastic holiday.
Coralie
We loved staying at Mullach Ruadh. We were only here for a week but wished it was longer. There is everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Its very warm and inviting. The driveway is a bit of a challenge but not impossible. Theres plenty to see in the area and great that its walking distance to the viaduct, railway station and loch cruises. Good walks from the door. There arent any supermarkets or pubs nearby hotel with bar next door so you need to bring plenty of food supplies with you.
Caroline
I would like to say what a wonderful stay me and my family had at Mullach Ruadh. The house was extremely wellappointed, spotlessly clean, and with very good facilities. It was situated in spectacularly beautiful scenery. When we arrived Angus the caretaker, had thoughtfully provided some Scottish shortbread, and throughout our stay he was readily available if we needed to ask him something, and very helpful. We would certainly return to Mullach Ruadh, and would be more than happy to recommend it.
Andrew
A very cosy and homely property made more special by the surrounding views would stay again.
Nicola
Really comfortable holiday home. Kitchen was well equipped, beds comfortable. Loved having a coffee with views of the surrounding mountains. Angus was fantastic at welcoming us and making sure we got the best from the house.
Monika
This house is a dream came true. Beautiful, spacious, comfortable, spotless clean. Wish we could stay longer and hope to return. And special thanks for the shortbreads
A well presented property and finished to a very high standard located in a lovely part of the Highlands, The interior is fully equipped with everything that you could possibly require for a relaxed stay , I would certainly recommend you try it for yourself P. S Angus the caretaker was very pleasant and extremely helpful !
Sophie
Amazing property in an incredibly beautiful part of the world. It is the best equipped holiday house we have ever been to. It was cosy and warm and provided a perfect base to explore the local area. Angus greeted us on arrival and was incredibly friendly and helpful and the house was clean and beautifully presented. We would thoroughly recommend this property and area to everyone, particularly if you are Harry Potter fans but the area has something for everyone as there is so much beauty and history for everyone to enjoy. We visited the viaduct regularly to watch the train, enjoying the walk from the house through Glenfinnan station to make the most of the views of the loch. We took a boat trip on Loch Shiel and went for a swim in the loch on a quiet afternoon. We took the normal train to Mallaig, so we could travel over the viaduct, drove to Fort Augustus for lunch and a great view of Loch Ness, visited Foyer Falls on the east side of Loch Ness, some of our group climbed Ben Nevis one day and we all enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Ben Nevis Inn, we would recommend it all, all enjoyed through rain and sun, just a fantastic week, we would love to do it all again. Thank you for a wonderful week.
Beautiful house in an even more beautiful location
Lauren
Fantastic property in a stunning location equipped with everything you could possibly need. Angus who is the caretaker lives close to the property, he is a lovely man who kindly gives you a quick tour of the property upon your arrival. He is in hand if you require his assistance. I would 100 recommend this property to friends and family.
We had a glorious week at Mullach Ruadh. The house itself was everything we hoped for spacious, well equipped, comfortable and with the most fantastic views from the decking and garden areas. Close enough to Fort William for supermarkets and fuel we had day trips to Skye, boat trips on Loch Shiel, enjoyed picnics at Loch Arkaig and spotted eagles deer and ospreys from the house. Angus the caretaker was friendly and helpful and was quickly on hand to rectify a small plumbing issue. We can't quite believe how lucky we were with the weather but even if it had rained we would have been very happy with our holiday at Mullach Ruadh
Excellent cottage in a great location, about 15 minutes walk from the Glenfinnan Viaduct. We enjoyed watching the trains go past every day and although the cottage is off the main road, it is high up, so we didn't notice the traffic at all. The property is very well kitted out and the quality of everything is superb, high quality duvets, pillows, crockery etc. Angus, the caretaker, left a welcoming note, with shortbread and flowers and called in to check that everything was fine when we arrived. Whilst there are no shops in Glenfinnan, other than at the visitor centre, we had food delivered from the supermarket in Fort William and then picked up additional supplies when we were out and about. Would have no hesitation in returning, a fantastic place to stay.
Barbara
Cottage very comfortable, well equipped & clean. Driveway is only thing that causes inconvenience if incapacitated in any way. Caretaker very helpful and pleasant
Eileen
Our second time at this property and once again a fantastic stay. The house is so well equipped, cosy and comfortable and the caretaker Angus is helpful and welcoming. The location is also perfect and the view from the kitchen window is stunning.
Stephen
This is a lovely property, extremely well equipped, very comfortable and with superb views. The Jacobite Hogwarts Express steam train runs quite close to the rear of the house during the high season, great for the children, and the Glenfinnan Viaduct is just a short walk away. There are plenty of nice walks close by. The caretaker, Angus, is very helpful, friendly and easily available if needed.

Excellent house only thing we couldnt work out was the under floor heating in ... Excellent house only thing we couldnt work out was the under floor heating in bathrooms very cold without it could do with a bit more instruction on this otherwise perfect
A beautiful property which has been designed and decorated very nicely. It did the photos on the website justice and was a very welcoming experience when first walking in let's face it some holiday lets leave a lot to be desired. A nice relaxing lounge with plenty of seating space plus the small snug area for the younger family to play games. The kitchen was well laid out with virtually every utensil possible and plenty of towels and tea towels etc . The beds, pillows and duvets were extremely comfortable and of good quality as were the lovely thick and soft towels. Everything seemed to have been thought about and provided from cleaning cloths in the kitchen down to face wipes in the bathrooms. If we had any negative point to make it would be the lack of clothes hanging space in one of the bedrooms it just had drawers. This is a very minor criticism in what was otherwise a perfect and lovely place to stay. Would highly recommend
A very well equipped house. Would be happy to stay there again and to recommend to others.
Mullach Ruadh was by far the best cottage we have ever stayed in everything was perfect, the place itself was amazingly spacious and wonderful views. The appliances and equipment were top end and the showers were great. Everything had been thought of from plenty of tea towels to first aid kits and life jackets. We cant recommend it enough and if this is the standard of all LHH properties we will be sure to use them again.
Mullach Ruadh is a beautiful holiday house for enjoying family time together. It's one of the bestequipped houses we have ever stayed in. The fresh flowers, wine, and chocolates were a lovely welcome treat and very much appreciated. So was the bag of ice in the freezer. The house is perfectly positioned for many stunning local walks and it was fun to wave at the steam train passengers from the windows at the back of the house. Our kids loved it when the passengers waved back! The log stove was a highlight in the evenings when we snuggled up for our movie nights. A top quality house in a superb location. Stunning.
We really enjoyed our stay at Mullach Ruadh. The house is very comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen is particularly well stocked with cooking utensilstrays etc. Beds were huge with comfy bedding, plenty of bathrooms. The WiFi setup was complicated with three networks. It would have been useful to have cards with the network codes in each room.
