Fantastic family holiday getaway. Owners made us feel very welcome with lovely hamper and flowers on arrival. Property was perfect for families, great facilities, clean, comfortable and cosy. Must mention utility room which was very roomy and very warm and was brilliant for drying outdoor coats and boots especially considering the Scottish weather. Area was excellent for exploring highlands and cairngorms. Would highly recommend and hope to return in future.
We had a fantastic stay here. Welcome hamper was extremely generous and thoughtful. House was lovely and cozy, beds were comfortable and showers excellent. The house was VERY well equipped, literally anything you might need was somewhere in the house if you looked for it. The utility room is an excellent drying room without having washing wet outdoor gear strewn around the house which was very welcome given the changeable weather we experienced. An excellent base for exploring the Highlands.
The is a lovely property perfectly cleaned and amazingly setup. It a perfect position for exploring newtonmore and so accessible for daytrips. The house was huge much bigger than the pictures made it seem. It would be a perfect setup for larger families and the downstairs bathroombedroom would make bringing older members a possibility too. It was perfect, defiantly would return

The thistle dhu was absolutely fantastic what a lovely place, when we arrived in the cottage it was warm and welcoming, we had everything we needed and more! !. We got a welcome basket full of treats which was a lovely surprise, Patsy the owner was very friendly and helpful. First time in Scotland and will most definitely go back again to Scotland and book the thistle dhu. Its 5 stars plus I highly recommend.

What an amazing find! Patsy the host was delightful and the cottage was hands down the best holiday rental we have ever stayed in. It really felt like a home without feeling like you were staying in someone else's home. It was so well equipped in terms of extra touches tupperwares, utensils, basic pantry items like oil so often missing in holiday rentals! and even things like books, boardgames and bath products. Truly a wonderful stay! Not to mention the location was an excellent base to visit the Cairngorms, the west coast and InvernessLoch Ness. We did a number of nearby day hikes that were stunning and the nearby towns of Kingussie and Aviemore were delightful. Can highly recommend the two pubs in Newtonmore the Balavil and the Glen for a great pub meal or a whisky! Thanks so much Roisin and co. Melbourne, Australia

The cottage was great no problems at all. My problems are with Sykes Cottages and the double standards with insurance. If you ring up and book you can have breakages for 8, if you book online its only included in the 44 travel insurance. My advice is dont book online but ring up and book. Better still see if its advertised elsewhere. I complained and they said someone will contact me. Im still waiting, Im finished with Sykes. Sykes Im still waiting.
We had another wonderful week at Thistle Dhu. The house is like a home from home. Patsy makes you feel so welcome and the welcome basket is full of delightful delicious treats. We hope to visit again

What a wonderful relaxing and welcoming home, we are sad to leave, we have stayed in many holiday homes over the years, Thistle Dhu beats them all. The owners live next door, always on hand if needed but never intruding, which worked perfectly for us. How lovely to receive such an assortment of goodies in a gift basket catering for the whole family. In some holiday homes not even a pint of milk! The surrounding area is breath taking, just a wonderful week. We would hope to return in the future.
One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. The owners have really thought about what they have provided for groups of holiday makers. The house was clean and really well presented, and was equipped with everything we needed. Owners were very welcoming and helpful. Lots of information about where to go locally. Enjoyed our two weeks here and found lots to do around Newtonmore and the local area. Trips through the mountains and looks of the Cairngorms kept us well occupied. Would definitely come back to this house and area.

Thistle Dhu was the perfect holiday cottage for our family of 7. A really comfortable space to spend time in, with an exceptionally well stocked kitchen in terms of cooking equipment. Lovely welcome hamper on arrival. Spacious, comfy bedrooms. Great utility room for drying clothes. Newtonmore is a quiet village, with absolutely stunning walks from the doorstep. We enjoyed golf and tennis, only a few minutes walk from the property. Additionally the sleeper train from London stops at Newtonmore, which made travel without a car really easy. We highly recommend this place and will definitely return.

Fantastic accommodation that is spacious and superbly equipped as well as being easily accessible from the A9 or by rail. Patsy and Gregor are superb hosts. Highly recommended. Newtonmore is a great place to be based. There are several hill walks from the house and the very special Highland Folk Museum is nearby.

Thistle Dhu is an absolute delight! The hosts are very warm and welcoming, as is the property. You couldn't ask for more in terms of cleanliness and everything you could need is provided with all the instructions you need. The location is idyllic and within close proximity to local amenities and restaurants. Being within the National Park is fantastic, so many activities are within a short car journey, with other major landmarks being within a reasonable drive. We felt like we were in our home from home and can not thank our wonderful hosts enough for all the care and attention given. We highly recommend and look forward to returning in the future. What a fantastic holiday home! It was comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. We enjoyed the amazing welcome basket. We had everything we needed for our stay. The red squirrel visiting the garden was an added bonus. We didn't meet the owners as they were on holiday too but I spoke to Patsy on the phone and she kept in touch by text. We enjoyed looking for wildcats in Newtonmore, visiting the Highland Wildlife Park and the Folk museum. The house is in a great area with plenty to see and do. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

It is a lovely cottage in a great location . Well stocked and furnished . Extremely clean and easy to see why its popular . The only issue I had was it was like living in somebody's show house . However thats personal subjective opinion and it is a great cottage .

We spent a week at Thistle Dhu and the house had everything we needed and more. The owners have put a lot of thought into the house and the welcome pack was much appreciated. There is also lots of information on Newtonmore and the surrounding area regarding walks, eating out and other recreations. What a wonderful house! We booked this property for the October school holiday, a group of four adults and two children, and it was excellent. The owners have really taken the time to think of everything you could need from a lovely welcome hamper to a wardrobe full of games, books and dvds. The house is very spacious and cosy with an extremely well equipped kitchen. The beds are very comfy and all bedrooms are a good size. Outside there is a great garden and also a storage lockable shed for bikes. From the house, there are many walks and bike paths and the kids and some adults also enjoyed golf at the course which is across the road. Newtonmore was a great base with some nice hotel bars, restaurants and cafes. We would highly recommend this house, one of the best we have ever stayed at!

We had a lovely break at Thistle Dhu! The house is beautiful and in a stunning location. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was extremely well stocked everything you could possibly need for cooking and more and children were well catered for with stair gates, travel cots, high chairs and games. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the cairngorms!

Thistle Dhu is a very nice, clean and comfortable house. Everything you might need is provided. You feel very welcome, f.e. there is a welcome basket with sweets, a bottle of wine and so on. The owners are very kind and hospitable. We enjoyed our stay very much
The photos dont do the property justice, it is a fabulous house, has everything you could wish for. The rooms are so cosy and warm. Everything was spotless on our arrival. We had really good weather too and enjoyed this amazing area. We will definitely be returning.
