Wildcat Lodge Reviews

Aileen
Our lodge was modern and spacious and in a good location, and we enjoyed our stay. It could be even better accommodation though if the covered outside areas were swept out we tried, but the brush from the property wasnt suitable the cooker hood was cleaned from time to time, we did it, and the kitchen was better equipped no vegetable peeler or potato masher. Spare towels to change them during the week would be helpful.
Really loved the stay and have been 2 years in a row now. Only comment the kitchen utensils really need a refresh.
Andrew
Great property well set up for the outdoors and functional in all Scottish weathers! !
Therese
We have stayed at Feshiebridge Lodges before. The setting is wonderful and the lodges well equipped and comfortable. Nearby Loch Insh provides a range of water sports and food options. There are beautiful walks on the doorstep.
The property was perfect for us. Lots of room on the ground floor for my parents who have limited mobility. Plenty of opportunities for dog walks and cycling right out the door and only 15 minutes from Aviemore and Kinguisse by car.
The lodge is fabulous , very clean , gorgeous location . Only fault I found , was it sleeps 8 . But only has comfortable seating for 5 on an evening . Leaving some adults having to sit on dining chairs to watch tv
We have stayed hear before but this time we had issues. Skyes cottages reached out and said we should have contacted them straight away. However now we can no longer stay at this location, seems pointless reporting issues to only be barred. Worst part was no one told us so we booked again only then to find out we could not stay and have to wait for refund. Issues we had which was supported by a refund from the owners and Sykes Cottages apologising for the issues so we did not make this up Downstairs Bathroom had mould thorough out which set off my asthma. Oven filters were dripping with grease photos provided. Oven inside was really dirty, so bad that when used all you could smell was someone else's burnt dinner. Ceiling in the living had water damage from the upstairs bathroom not informed prior to arrival. Heating stopped working which the owner was quick to try and resolve however the replacement property also had cleanliness issues similar to above. Don't get me wrong we got a refund and have stayed before which is why we thought lets give them another try. However we booked and then two days later it was cancelled. It's almost like we did something wrong reporting and taking images of the issues when in fact it was not. Skyes Cottages encourage feedback and you to report issues but then standby the owners. Just to be clear its a lovely location and the properties are amazing but cleanliness is bad and if something goes wrong be prepared to not be able to stay again.
Dorota
Its a fantastic lodge, peaceful, spacious, modern, very comfortable, well equipped, warm we didnt need to put the heating on much as the fireplace warmed the lodge up enough. No problems with WiFi, heating or hot water. One downfall was there used to be many paths in the surrounding forest but unfortunately the trees have fallen over them. Close to Aviemore and in general a good location for visiting local attractions. Definitely would book again if not too expensive!
Tracey
Have booked again for next year already
Matthew
Beautiful lodge which made for an idyllic stay.
The Feshiebridge Lodges are the perfect place to stay and explore the Cairngorms National Park. The accommodation is outstanding and superb value for money. We hiked, paddled boarded, enjoyed the Loch Morlich beach, made dens, walked up a waterfall and ate some amazing food including toasting marshmallows on the open outdoor fire! We cant wait to come back!
A really good base, quiet and outoftheway but handy for lots of good walking. Very comfortable and spacious and well looked after. Particularly like that the lodges are wellinsulated from each other so stays quiet. Slightly quirkily equipped lots of casserole dishes but no frying pan or bread knife, for instance and the lock button on the induction hob didn't work properly so it often took 20 goes to get the hobs to work dodgy connection somewhere?. Still an excellent place to stay though.
William
It has fantastic facilities within the area, and the lodge was made to a high standard. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the lodge, which was extremely comfortable. Thank you for the use of your facility
Lesley
Fabulous lodge. We loved the location as it was out of town with walks and cycles from the door. Terrace was perfect for stargazing. We hope to be back soon
We have stayed at Feshiebridge Logdes a few times. It is apparent that they are starting to decline since our first stay. The washing machine was unusable and had a fault code displayed. The dishwasher leaked a couple of times in the kitchen. The downstairs shower was very dirty with mould and grime at the base of the shower area. The oven does not have a clear instruction guide. It explains what the symbols are but not that you have to set the timer for it to work. No key was provided to enable use of the outside shed. The fire and the external fire pit had not been cleaned. The downstairs bed was loose. It is a shame as this has lowered our level of expectancy of the standard and confidence in the lodge.
Edward
We absolutely loved our stay. The location. Facilities. Amenities and comfort were absolutely excellent.
Fantastic lodge and beautiful location. The lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. There were 2 couples in our party and there was lots of room for sitting and relaxing after a day out exploring. All of the bedrooms were so spacious, we had the big downstairs bedroom that had the massive walk in shower next door which was great. The outdoor space is ideal and we still managed to sit outside even when it was raining thanks to the covered section. Phone signal is pretty none existent but thats what I would expect being in a remote location but the WiFi was fine for general browsing on the internet The location is great with so many beautiful walks either from the lodge or just a short drive away. The nearby river is perfect if you fancy a cold dip and the Glenmore area had some fantastic walks with stunning views of the mountains and theres lots of Lochs nearby of various sizes Loch Eileen was lovely Aviemore is only a 15 to 20 minute drive away and has a small Tesco and an Aldi for stocking up on supplies Would definitely recommend and would stay again for sure.
The property as described by Sykes was accurate. It wasn't very clean, we needed to Re wash some of the utensils and pans before using them. The outside area hadn't been swept at all and there was a packet of cigarettes left out there. Our bed downstairs really creaked every time you moved. The fridge was noisy in the open plan area and needs replacing and I wouldn't suggest someone could sleep in there. I am disabled and found the loo in the wet room to be extremely low and needed to put a chair in there to help me. I would suggest some explanation of accessability of the surrounding area to be added, so other people are aware that the paths aren't wheelchair friendly and you would need a robust mobility scooter to get around easily. Other than that we found Scotland beautiful and the weather was bonus.
Rebecca
This is a spacious lodge at the edge of the CairnGorm mountains. There are great walks right from the door. The water pressure on the shower was insane thank you. When youre tired and cold from a strenuous hike there was nothing better.

The fridge made a louder noise than would be expected so no chance of peice and quite down stairs bathroom the same the settee had stains all over and one of the arm chairs is stained Not at all like other stays and the price you pay I expect more
Lovely, lovely house very much home from home

Great Location for our family holiday. The forest and walk down to the river was lovely. Loads of activities nearby, would recommend the Highland wildlife park, Landmarks and loch an Eileen. Aviemore was only a short drive away with a Tesco, Aldi and a lovely fish and chips shop. The lodge was very modern and the down stairs living area layout was great, lovely spacious bedrooms and we really liked the downstairs shower. We were expecting kingsize beds as advertised but they were only doubles. You cannot park next to the lodge it's a communal parking area. Freesat is provided but steaming was prohibited on the TV as the WiFi provided was for all the lodges. There was only 1 TV in the property. We unfortunately had no phone signal. Unfortunately The air source heat pump was very noisy at night and was situated directly outside the downstairs bedroom window.

The house was and holiday were very good and its a great location with loads of places and things to do within easy reach The things we found disappointed was no mirror in upstairs bathroom only being supplied with 3 dishwasher tabs 2 toilet rolls per bathroom 1 hand towels and 2 bin bags for the whole week also I would suggest a dustpan and brush for the entrance hall to keep it tidy
Great location and fantastic accommodation. The listing stated that limited WiFi was available. There was no WiFi and almost no mobile data signal. Not a problem, but maybe update listing to reflect this. Otherwise perfect for what we were looking for.
Great place to stay great location would go again
Love these lodges, this was our second stay there. Location and lodges are excellent, the only small complaint is there are no mirrors upstairs and more kitchen equipment and crockery needed. Other than that fantastic holiday, many thanks
Fantastic property set in a beautiful location. The property was beautifully furnished, and the kitchen had all of the utensils and tools we might need. Not a single drawback with the property, and we're already planning our next visit!
We had a lovely stay at the lodge. The property is decorated beautifully and it was equipped with almost everything you would need tiny thing is we could have done with better plastic platesbowlscups for the kids but this is not a big issue! It was very clean. The location is excellent, really peaceful and feels off the beaten track but actually very close to lots of activities and many walks right on your doorstep. We would definitely stay again.
Anthony
The lodge is set in a clearing in the woodland along with just four others, with local walks immediately adjacent. It is very clean and well equipped and although I had doubts about the air source heat pump, but it kept us very warm in the cold weather. Would definitely book again in the future.
Great property. Two points Drain needs fixing loose in the downstairs shower. No plug in sink. Great lodge, very comfortable and great layout. Will use again.
Fantastic break, property very well thought out with everything you need. A mirror in the bathroom there's a song in there would be nice. Hope to return. Would recommend highly.
Joanne
Absolutely loved our stay at Wildcat Lodge. Very warm, immaculately clean and super comfortable. We loved how the lodge was really set up for activity holidays. We had 4 bikes and the bike storage area and bike wash was brilliant. The location was very private and you felt like you were really away from it all. Wifi also good for general use. Had no issues and husband had to do a bit of work too whilst there. Not sure how well it would cope with video calls etc but considering you are in the middle of a forest it was very good. Brilliant cycle routes locally, our favourite being around Loch Morlich. Stunningly beautiful. So much to do, you wont be bored! We have 2 boys and they loved the tubing on the caingorm mountain. There is also Loch Insh activity centre just a mile or so up the road which has all sorts of activities and a small dry ski slope. Worth a visit. Aviemore itself is a lovely little town, there is a Tesco and Aldi, along with loads of coffee shops, gift shops etc. Thanks for a wonderful holiday, we will definitely be back
Esther
Had a lovely weeks holiday at this lodge. Although we had neighbours either side you never heard them. Lodge a perfect place for peace and relaxation. We had no hob for the first four days till owner organised two individual portable hobs to arrive at house. Loved the outside log burner. The woods behind house were perfect for walking and the river so handy for wild swimming. We will definitely be back.
I don't think the carpets had been vacuumed or the furniture moved, when sweeping the floor. A heating engineer arrived on the Wednesday, of which we were not notified. The hob on the cooker broke, we were told it would be fixed within 23 days, but hadn't been repaired when we left, this meant we had to through food away that we were unable to cook as we had no hob. Top bathroom needs a mirror. Saying all this we would stop at Feshiebridge lodges again.
If you like peace and quiet then this is the place for you. Although all 4 lodges and the 2 apartments were booked we experienced total tranquility. We sat outside by the fire in the evening and could not hear a sound from the other groups. Gorgeous walks on the doorstep too. Hope to return again in autumn. Highly recommend.
Wildcat Lodge is clean, comfy, warm and spacious accommodation. The shower is great and there's plenty of hot water the beds are super. It's surrounded by beautiful quiet woodland and you can watch red squirrels playing in the trees. There are a few things that could be improved including a welcome book with local and house information, enough washing up liquid and dishwasher tabs for the week, and at least a couple of nights logs it seems strange to advertise that the lodge has a woodburner but expect you to buy logs from a not very local garage. The main problem though unfortunately is the noise from the air source heat pump outside the downstairs bedroom and the boiler situated in the middle of upstairs. These were so noisy that we had to turn the heating off at night.
Victoria
The lodge was absolutely stunning, we enjoyed every second and was very sad to come home! Will definitely be booking again, my mum has already booked it in May after seeing our photos! It is beautiful!
Fantastic location, wildcat lodge was spotless and utilities top notch, would highly recommend and hope to return
Guilt made us cut our trip short would the Scottish border even close because of the virus doing the rounds? but this accommodation was fantastic, immaculate, very stylish, and very well kitted out, with everything you could need and more. Moreover, It was in a lovely, peaceful setting, amidst pine forests. We have already been recommending it to family members and would love to stay again. A few brochures about things to do in the local area might have been a nice, extra touch, even a free map but one could obtain these elsewhere easily enough. And, it wasn't possible to get your car as close to the lodge as you might wish, if you had a lot of luggage, or shopping. This is by far the nicest holiday accommodation that we have ever stayed at.
The lodge was beautiful. Very clean. Great set up and layout for a family. The setting in the woods is stunning. And although there are 4 lodges right next to each other, it feels completely private. Communication with the manager was excellent.
