Corriemhor Beag Reviews

Matthew
I have stayed here 4 times over 5 years, the area is beautiful. However, Sykes have not done the owners any favours and have allowed for the property to be run down. There are stains on about every carpet in the house, a bed leg was hanging off the bottom of the bed in the downstairs room which I replaced but needs fixed properly. There is coving missing on one part of the roof and another is loose and flapping in the wind keep in my family awake at night. I sent a video of this to the number given but nothing heard back and I also sent a photo of a stain on the carpet. The answer being I will inform the owners. I am aware that the owners, although back in the UK now, were abroad. Sykes appear to have done nothing to ensure that this house has been maintained properly. I would certainly not recommend Sykes to anyone looking after their property.

I would first like to say that the house is very nice and in a great location. However, we feel the issues we encountered during our stay definitely had a negative affect on our stay. On arrival there was items of rubbish in the entrance to the driveway and all four bins were completely full and on our last day they were still full. Not a great first impression, so we had nowhere to leave our rubbishrecycling, other than in the house. The freezer was completely iced up with other peoples food frozen in the shelves, so we were unable to use it, again another inconvenience. Our sleep was impacted by loose coverings ridge covers on the roof that when windy were just flapping against the roof on both sides of the two small areas over the bedroom windows. I found broken pieces in the front garden. The issue with the TV not working for the whole week was a big inconvenience for us, despite reporting the problem on our first day, no replacement was offered. I cannot believe these things have been missed and not checked on changeover. Regarding the property information on the Sykes website , can I just inform you that the local distillery is permanently closed and not open 5 days a week for tours. The owner has emailed my wife on the last day of our stay, but offered only an apology for the TV issue. Dave HiettElaine Matthews
Excellent holiday home in a lovely setting. Spotlessly clean. Was perfect for our family pre Christmas break.
Property looked great when we first arrived. We noticed that on the first morning that the plug mechanism on the sink upstairs didn't work so couldn't fill the sink, then tge following day the bath was used and we couldn't open the plug mechanism to empty the bath, we contacted the number given and was informed that a plumber would be with us the following day. Well on the day we left 5 days later the water was still in the bath and no one had been to the property. On leaving we tided up and was in the process of stripping the upstairs bed linen to find the most dirty and stained mattress ever also a large dead spider, our son came home and went straight in the shower. We didn't do the rest as didn't want to see what was underneath. The cleaning company only hoover round the furniture even though the hoover fits underneath and our small dogs were bringing popcorn, bricks and even a thick elastic band so I hoovered properly.

This is the 4th time we've stayed at this property. Its like a home away from home. The property is fantastic, but it needs a little up date. Some repairs needed. It states there is a barbecue, this can't be used. At moment it has been used for an ashtray. Not by my party. I had to go into Aviemore and buy a barbecue. Would I go back yes I love this property and the area.
Great location and well kitted out. Feels like a nice home rather than a rented cottage. Its not a modern property which probably makes it feel more homely. Really enjoyed our stay
Ronald
Second time of staying at this brilliant holiday house. Very peaceful and a pleasure to stay there.
Mrs Rosemary
Lovely house with all mod cons! Spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful cottage and beautiful location, very spacious and clean
The property is amazing. Its large, spacious , comfortable and clean. There were only 2 of us and 2 dogs so we didn't use the house to its full potential but we had the most incredible holiday. Just what we needed. I had to message the cleaner while we were there as one of the metal pieces on the ridge came loose during high winds and was lifting off the roof but she said she would let the owners know. There were only 2 very minor issues the fitted sheet on the Master bedroom bed didn't fit and every time we got in, it curled up off the mattress, and for some reason the plug had been cut off the hoover so we couldn't vaccuum before we left. Would love to return, its in our favourite rea of Scotland and the property is just perfect. Thankyou
Trevor
We stayed here for the Christmas period had an amazing time the house was home from home with everything you need and more. They had even put a tree and decorations up for us on our arrival was very nice. Will 100 be booking again would highly recommend to anyone 1010 5
A well laid out property with plenty of room for our party of 6 adults. The distillery next door was quiet and had some interesting gins. Location was good for accessing the highlands but 3 miles from nearest shops. The property needed a proper spring clean and refresh but we enjoyed our stay.
Lovely home to stay in, in a beautiful quiet area. Perfect base for exploring the Highlands. Plenty of space and storage, and lovely little touches like books and board games! Comfortable and cosy at night. We would stay again! Thank you!

Location wise is great . But there is something broken on roof . The first night was very windy due to that whole night we had clunging noise in one if the room which got blue paint and even other nights we had same problem . The house needs to update especially bathrooms . Downstairs is nice
Excellent property. Great location and splendid surroundings. Hearing the stream burbling at night and the soft cooo of the pigeons, and breathing the clean soft air lulled us to sleep. Would highly recommend for couples or small families.
A great, comfortable holiday house with everything we needed. Although a large casserole dish with lid would have been handy. We used the sun room and decking more than the living room as the weather was so nice. Good showers with plenty hot water. Happy to recommend and would stay here again.

Lovely property. Comfortable, maintained and modern. We found the cottage location ideal, it was in a quite and private area yet was convieniet to get to Aviemore, the National park, Mt Caingorm and the Whiskey trail! Importantly there was a Tesla supercharger close by In Aviemore. Would recommend this property.
Douglas
Stunning property very spacious and clean. Our only issue as a family eating at night was no air fryer etc....... But can't recommend this property highly enough, such value for money.
Alun Richard
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. Everything we could have needed was at hand. It is an excellent base for days out. Very spacious. Many properties will advertise the number of people able to stay eg. sleeps 8, but this often leaves little room to 'live in', however, this property left ample space for the recommended number advertised. We would definitely recommend this property and already have.
William
Absolutely wonderful property beautiful location and would definitely recommend ... Absolutely wonderful property beautiful location and would definitely recommend to anyone that wants a relaxing holiday or a base to see the wonderful sights
Lovely venue, very comfortable well equipped home. GrantownonSpey has all the shopping facilities required, and there are additional ones available in Aviemore. Lots to seevisit but a car is needed. Very much enjoyed our family stay there. Ian and Pat Ridland
Sharon
On arrival a corner cupboard with pullout trays was dirty. Everything else was perfect.
Hilary
As always we enjoyed our stay here, was let down by the now quite broken fridge freezer not working correctly was frozen solid when we arrived, thereby spoiling a lot of food we had delivered when we arrived, and was also broken the year before which was also reported back then too. However we totally love the cottage and could quite happily live here, just needs a little loving!
Thomas
This property and location is stunning. Plenty to do around the site especially if you like the outdoors, or the occasional gin gin tour available within throwing distance. An excellent enclosed garden with plenty of space for dogs to run about, especially for the pups that love a ball being thrown. Will definitely make a return visit!
Thomas
The new table and decking as been put in wrong, screw heads sticking through table top. The barbeque is not worth using dirty and broke. I love this property, it's my third stay. Really great house and area. I would say to the owners get the right people to look after it.
Richard
I wrote in the feedback book in the cottage I couldn't find any negatives. Very well equipped and a fabulous spot. We all loved it!
Christina
The cottage was spacious and well equipped, it is has a lovely countryside setting and we spent lots of time watching the wildlife. The beds were comfortable and it was good to have an ensuite bedroom downstairs.
Matthew
We have stayed here on 3 other occasions. It was always clean and tidy and Health and safety obviously taken in to consideration. It was therefore a shock to find that the old outdoor garden table and chairs were abandoned in the middle of the lawn. In addition it is really very bad workmanship on the new decking and garden table. Screw tips are sticking up on the garden table and if you were unaware and ran your hand across the surface it would rip your hand open. We had a four year old with us so had to keep him away from the table. In addition the decking you can see where the screws have been put in and actually miss fixing the decking all together. On the day of arrival we arrived one minute early but then waited for the lovely cleaner to leave. We then found that in the conservatory the floor was filthy under the chairs. This was not the standard it used to be and I feel sorry for the owners as I feel the property has been badly managed in their absence.
Caroline
Absolutely gorgeous cottage. Loved it. Beautiful location, stocked with all the essentials, spacious, nicely homey decor and touches, deck to make use of good weather, great water pressure for showers. If there was only one thing I could change, it is that the downstairs double bed was not very comfy, but given the comfort and facilities of the rest of the cottage that is just a small feedback. Would 100 recommend as close to perfect for us as we have ever had.
Angela
Had a lovely few days at Corriemhor Beag. On arrival the first thing you see is the overgrown grass but once inside the house is beautiful, well maintained and clean. Very spacious. There is a strong smell comes from the boiler but we had a lovely few days and would definitely stay there again.
The property was spacious, comfortable and ideal for purpose. Very well equipped with a fantastic layout. Lovely location.
Douglas
We had a very enjoyable week exploring the surrounding hills and general area. The property was very comfortable, clean and was very well equipped for our stay, with a lot of the essentials already in place when we arrived. A lovely property in a beautiful area.
Katharine
Really lovely home. It had everything we could have needed secure garden for the dog, kitchen utensils, board games. It even has a piano. Its not the easiest to find the first time you go to it we ended up driving into the distillery then turning right
Had a fantastic holiday in Corriemhor Beag, fantastic location, what a beautiful house, so much space for 6 adults and 2 children. Kitchen is great with everything you need and more, Sun room was a dream. So much to see and do, Steam Train ride, Landmark, Highland Wildlife Centre, wee train ride at Grantown East, also visit to distillery on door step, what an amazing family holiday we all had. Would highly recommend. Hope to be able to come back again.
Hilary
The double bed downstairs needs replacement, it needed replacement a year ago when we stayed too, 3 mattress toppers just doesnt fix a naff mattress and wonky bed! Sad that there is no longer an open fire in the living room! Also, a reported problem with the TV never got sorted out. Picking up someone elses dog poo was not a great start either!
Large and comfortable house and very well equipped. Outdoor furniture is broken and only sits 4. The table has a wooden spar missing and the chairs are wobbly. The property would benefit with new furniture.
Philip
Absolutely beautiful house and location, could not fault it and would highly recommend
Thomas
The house is fantastic the location is fantastic. The only improvements I would make are to replace all the decking and chairs and get a new BQ. This is not a complaint Its what I personally would change.
Louise
An absolute gem, we really enjoyed our stay, a warm and welcoming home which was the perfect location for where we wanted to explore. The beds were very comfy, plenty of room in the cottage for everyone. We will definately go back
