Glencanisp Reviews

House was exactly as expected, lovely big traditional Scottish highland home. We stayed as a party of 8 4 adults and 4 children for 3 nights over new year. Plenty of space for us and amenities were all ideal. Fireplaces in downstairs rooms meant we were always cosy, and all fire starters, kindling and logs were provided. Location was ideal for wandering down into Aviemore high street and lots of shops and places to eat and drink good base for heading up to the Cairngorm centre if youre hiking or skiing. Have stayed in Aviemore before and would for sure recommend Glencanisp for future visits.
Spacious, comfortable and well equipped. An excellent base for a hill walking holiday.
Lynsey
Wonderful house and location. We had a superb holiday.
Lovely comfortable house to stay. Very clean with clear instructions for all appliances. Beds very comfortable. Plenty utensils and crockery. Good range of cooking pots pans and trays. Although on main road still very quiet and peaceful. Good seating outside.
First class service from the owner throughout , professional and caring contact from Diane, the place was spotless on arrival and accurately described in advertising. ..

Overall, a great property & really helpful owners. Great comms beforehand from the owners. Indeed Diane couldn't have done any more to make our stay a pleasant one. Plenty space inside & out, plenty parking, loads of equipment etc, clean & in a great location loads to do nearby, plenty shops etc. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Glencanisp to others. Thanks
We had a wonderful week at this charming old property, complementary by its decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The location is fantastic, just a short and easy walk to the village, where we enjoyed the shops, eateries, and bars. Visiting as an extended family in February 2025, we appreciated the spaciousness of the home, along with the thoughtful extras like toys, games, a travel cot, and stair gates, which made our stay even more comfortable. Thank you The Crosbys

Lovely house and owner. A lot of facilities closed nearby from November especially for children. The situation of the house was great if a little noisy. The main shower being downstairs and a little tight wouldnt have been our preferred option, but the rest of the house made up for it. It was clean, lots of local information, and felt like a skiingclimbingwalking environment. All the essentials and more. Lovely large kitchen and utility. Wonderful owner.
Christopher
Can thoroughly recommend Glencanisp . Very well appointed throughout and caters for all requirements. Diane was very helpful and attentive. Handy for Aviemore too
The house is very conveniently located for local shops, restaurants and public transport. The house was a great size for a family of 6 with plenty of room for all of us. It was great to arrive to a lovely clean and tidy house with helpful extras such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, toilet rolls etc. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Cottage was ideally located and suited to our party of golfers. Everything was clean and a nice big well equipped kitchen. Owners helpful and pleasant to deal with. If there was one issue of criticism it would be of the Sykes Holiday Cottages business method. A week before leaving I was concerned about not being able to have any direct contact with owners had in the past turned up at a booked cottage and been unable to gain access. The only way of contacting Sykes was by way of text which they responded to some hours later. They were reluctant to provide contact details for owner and best they could do was provide an out of hours number for Sykes. However, some days later they then did send a final email ........... which did contain the owners contact details so all was good. Seemed a strange way of conducting business.

Spacious, warm, cosy and all mod cons.
Our family had a wonderful stay at Glencanisp. Diane and Ian were so helpful and accommodating. The property itself is in an excellent location and is very well equipped, particularly the kitchen. There were so many helpful little touches such as leaving dishwasher tablets and bin bags, not to mention the jar in the kitchen filled with tasty treats! Would highly recommend the property to any family visiting Aviemore. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Lilian
Very nice property with everything you could possible need. Very convenient for restaurants and shops. Plenty of offstreet parking. Very nice helpful owners. Would highly recommend.
Caroline
Our family had a lovely comfortable stay in Glencanisp . The villa easily accommodated our family and had everything we needed to meet our needs. Diane and Ian were both very helpful pre and post stay and provided lots of information on local eventsactivities as well as eateries.
Thomas
We loved to be here, worth every penny. In case we plan again a holiday in the Cairngorms we definitely book the cosy Glencanisp.
Edward
The next time we come to Aviemore we will certainly check availability of Glencanisp first. A delightful property in a prime location.
Angela
Lovely house, was everything we needed. One of the bestequipped holiday lets we've visited. Thoughtful touches from the owners like providing laundry detergent and dishwasher tablets was really appreciated. There was plenty of comfortable socialising space for our party of 7. Recommend without hesitation.
Glencanisp is a beautiful property situated right in the heart of Aviemore. The house itself is absolutely charming and has every comfort and convenience you would wish for. The owners, Ian and Diane, were delightful to deal with. I would unreservedly recommend this property to anyone holidaying in Aviemore. We will most definitely be booking it again.
Really nice place go stay Very clean Very comfortabke Very well located
The cottage was comfortable and spacious for the 8 adults on our trip, with lots of table space for boardgames. We really enjoyed being close to some beautiful walks as well as the cafs and shops of Aviemore. The kitchen was well equipped too, so lots of opportunity for cooking and eating together! There's a bus stop right outside the property, which is handy for heading further out of Aviemore for walks, but they aren't very frequent so having a car is preferable for exploring further afield.
A comfortable family cottage which suited our purposes well.
Brilliant location and a wonderful host. I would love to return!
What an amazing holiday house close to town, good size and facilities, really nicely kept and cleaned, and beautiful views too. Owners were lovely and very helpful. We stayed with 4 adults and 4 kids under 4yo plenty of space and things to do. Thank you very much!
Accommodation clean and tidy. Comfortable. Diane and Ian very helpful. Plenty of room Drying facilities. Good location.
Gregory
A great base for a multigenerational family visit to the highlands. Kitchen really well equipped, with a fab huge table that easily fitted all 7 of us round. Utility room was PERFECT for drying soggy ski gear toasty warm boots the next morning! Beds lovely and comfortable, and good showers. Log fires were a bonus treat. The porch and garden room offered nice opportunities for quieter times, too. Only slight issue was the relatively small snug living room very cosy if we were all in there, but not always great angles for watching tv. But after a long day skiing, it wasnt a big deal. Plus the lovely footstool seat was great for achy legs. House is well located for walking into town for supplies beers, and great parking. Would have been nice to have used the garden table, but February weather was against us unsurprisingly.
Lovely property. It is spacious, clean, comfortable beds and very welcoming owners. Had a Fantastic holiday.
Glencanisp was very well situated. It was very convenient for the amenities in Aviemore. It was also very well equipped and comfortable. However, some of the furniture and decorations were a little tired. The driveway was very narrow and difficult to negotiate if you parked at the front of the house.
Gillian
Have just returned from a very enjoyable stay in this lovely house. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable! Fresh flowers in the lounge and kitchen was a lovely touch! Beds very comfortable too! Only slightly negative comment is the seating in the lounge........there were six of us and just enough seating for us but don't think eight adults would manage. We all enjoyed our stay very much, had beautiful weather, and wouldn't hesitate to return to this lovely house.
Beautiful family home with all our needs of 3 couples catered for. The owners live locally and even delivered a 2 pin adapter immediately upon my request. All the bed linen and towels are excellent quality.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in January Ideal location, very spacious and ultra well equipped. Loved the layout and furnishings in the house, made it it very homely and welcoming. Couldn't have wanted for more!!
The property was perfect for our group of 8 adults and fully equipped for us to cook and stay in by the Wood burning fires, but we noticed it catered excellently for families as well. The house was spacious giving everyone room to either be together or go off on their own. Communication with the owners was excellent. I would highly recommend this property to anyone staying in this area
Had a fantastic stay at glencanisp, lovely house which had everything we needed. Really appreciated the washing machine and dryer as there was a lot of mud in aviemore at this time of year!
Beautiful House, well equipped. Situated in a great location, 5 minutes walk from Aviemore amenities. Great base for walking in the highlands.
Gordon
Cottage was fantastic large and comfortable with all amenities, in a central location for all shops, resteraunts and bars etc would recommend for large families or groups . Balavoulin hotel and Cairngorm hotel were the best we tried, overall ambience and food and drink was the Balavoulin, best food was the Cairngorm Hotel
Great location both for the town and for all attractions, Landmark etc.
Gillian
House and location were brilliant. Lovely property. The only thing that proved a bit of a problem was the height of the bottom step at the front and back doors. I had my mother and mother in law with us and they struggled getting up the steps. Maybe putting hand rails either side would really make this easier for older guests. Otherwise everything else was faultless.
Glencanisp feels like home. So comfortable, well equipped, centrally located in beautiful surroundings with so much to do and see. Perfect.
A nice property in a stunning location. The owners were superfriendly & helpful, and the cottage was a warm, wellequipped, and comfortable. It was a homefromhome from which it was easy to explore the area. The downstairs shower room was in need of redecoration and seating in the lounge was somewhat limited for the capacity of the house, but we would still happily visit again & would recommend the property to friends and family. To be honest the house was comfortable & perfectly adequate, but it's what's outside the window that you're really there to enjoy... the Cairngorms is an absolutely awesome location in the truest sense of the word & Scotland is incomparable in it's beauty...
Louise
We have recently returned from a weeks holiday in Glencanisp House, Aviemore and can not recommend it highly enough. There were six of us staying there and we had a fantastic stay there, although the weather was mixed. The house was spotlessly clean and really well equipped with everything that we could need. It was well positioned for walking into Aviemore and for food shopping which was a five minute walk away. There was plenty of room for all of our cars, vans, bikes and a motorcycle. Our hosts were helpful and easy to contact especially when we had a power cut which turned out to be a local power Cut. Their instructions were clear and precise from all information on how to get to the house to how to use the heating, cooker, wifi etc. The six of us are hoping to revisit the house again next year for another great holiday.
