Katchana Reviews

Barbara
Lovely property in beautiful setting. Lots of birdlife including woodpeckers & pheasants & we saw red squirrels in the trees opposite the house. We had a very relaxing stay.
Great week at Katchana, our 2nd time here, just love the position of the property. There is everything you need and more. Comfortable and spacious with amazing views and wildlife. Got a bit cool from time to time but with woodburner on and doors kept closed it was ok. Thank you for supplying the bird food, you have very hungry birds. Property could do with a little overhaul, loose flooring, 2 radiators not working, just little things that weren't a problem but stop me giving the extra star. Thank you.
Charlene
The location is what really sets this property apart absolutely beautiful. The beds were very comfortable, and the hot tub was a great bonus. The wildlife was incredible we saw so many birds, red squirrels, and deer, and the children loved topping up the bird table each morning with the seed that was kindly left. We did experience one full day without an internet connection, and some of the dishes in the cupboard needed washing before use as there was still food on them. Overall, the cleaning let it down slightly, but it is still a lovely place and we really enjoyed our stay.
A beautiful house, with everything we needed for a lovely Christmas holiday. We really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife and the walks in the area. The stars were unbelievable and we could see the milky way with ease, especially enjoyed from the hot tub. After lovely walks in the cold it was nice to come back and get the fire going to warm up. The views all around the house are just stunning and we could see the Loch was iced over from the living room, there was plenty of room for all of us 6 adults, 1 child and a dog and the larger table was perfect for our Christmas dinner. An amazing stay enjoyed by all in a beautiful area

This is a wonderful, unique property, set in an amazing location. It is furnished to a high standard and the heating system and log fire ensure you are always cosy and comfortable. The view from the hot tub is stunning. But the highlight must be the wildlife. The owner encourages you to feed the wild birds and its a delight to watch them. Red squirrels , deer, woodpecker are regular visitors to the garden. We even seen a pinemartin. Highly recommend Katchana
We recently spent a lovely week at Katchana. The house is in a quiet area but close to beautiful forest walks and water sports at Loch Insch. During our stay we saw a red squirrel and a woodpecker on the bird feeders. The views from the house were lovely The kitchen was really well equipped which is a bonus for a holiday home. Katchana is in easy reach of Aviemore and the Highland Wildlife Park. The owner was very helpful and the process of booking was smooth.

The house had everything we needed for our stay including a fabulous hot tub which we could chill out in after our daily adventures. The area also has everything you could want for a trip to the Highlands. We will more than likely be booking another stay here.

Stunning house in outstanding grounds a short walk to Loch Insh. So many lovely walks, things to do, and places to visit. Wildlife all around. Saw white tailed eagle and herd of sika deer up close around Laggan. I even enjoyed washing up, while looking at the view and birds on feeders. Stunning views all around the house. We will be back. Thank you Jenny for sharing your house with us.

Stunning location with walks from the door in woodland and down to the loch, plus amazing views from the many picture windows inside this elevated, cosy and comfortable house, which make it ideal for spotting wildlife and a relaxing break. Plenty to do and see nearby as well.
Beautiful area, beautiful property. So peaceful. Very homely and well stocked with wildlife surrounding the property. Walks and snow capped mountains easily accessible. Log fire and hot tub to come back to every evening. Again, all well maintained and clean. Just short drive to aviemore which has shops, restaurants and bars. We would love to return.
Absolutely stunning location and property! Amenities were perfect and exactly what we looked for. Had a fantastic stay thank you very much!
Katchana is the perfect home from home. It was warm, comfy, peaceful and extremely well equipped. It was so well equipped it felt like someone had leant us their home for a week. It has everything you need. The bed is comfy, the shower was great. Sofas are great. The sky Q box is a nice touch so you can record something you don't want to miss and watch it later. Then there's the hot tub.. just amazing. The location is incredible with lovely views over Loch Insh. And there are some amazing walks either a very short drive or walkable from the door. I would recommend walking to Feshiebridge and checking out the sculpture trail. Also highly recommend driving to Uagh Lochan and walking the red route. The views are breathtaking. I've loved other places I've stayed, but this is the first time I felt devastated to be leaving a location. If you're lucky enough to be booking Katchana you won't be sorry.
Michael
This was our second stay at Katchana and it never fails to dissapoint. The abundace of wildlife that comes to the cottage is amazing and I would be quite happy to spend my holiday just looking out of the windows. The cottage was very cosy and clean it had everything you could wish for a good stay, the kitchen had all you would possibly need, the beds are very comfortable, there are books, jigsaw, games to use. The scenery from all the windows are beautiful, it is so peaceful and quiet. The owner of the property is a lovely lady and easy to contact.

Loved the property and we all really enjoyed our stay.
Richard
Unique and relaxing with amazing architecture. Comfortable and clean with comfy beds, a good kitchen and huge sitting room with excellent TV etc. the heating was automatic and hot water was plentiful. Everything was perfect apart from one small point. The road could do with a scrape and fill in of holes. One of our cars had rather limited ground clearance. Local things to do are many and varied. Our kids especially liked wildlife park, water activities on the loch, and the Scottish folk museum site at Newtonmore.
Hilary
We had a wonderful stay. What a beautiful place. So peaceful, and so much wildlife to see. Comfy beds, lovely log fire, amazing hot tub, dog friendly. Everything you need and more for a fab self catered stay, and more! We loved walking by the loch and exploring all the local foest trails. We would love to return. Xx
Katchana is the perfect home from home. It's comfortable and has all the facilities you need, plus more. The hot tub is a bonus and was the perfect way to unwind after a day in the wilderness. The views and walks from Katchana is what made it for us. Words can not describe how stunning it is, particularly the autumn colours. There are so many great walks right from the door. Loch Insh Watersports Centre can be walked to in under 30 mins and has loads of activities and lovely food. Thank you Jenny for a lovely stay!
Alexandra
Well equipped and dog friendly property with shops close to and plenty to seedo. Whole family and dogs thoroughly enjoyed the stay.q
We had a perfect week. It is a wonderful, magical house with views in all directions and with room for all to find a peaceful place to sit and read or daydream. We saw couple of deer, red squirrels and the badgers who came to the door for the peanuts scattered at night. We walked trough forests and by the lochs remembered from frequent visits to he area in the past. Thank you Jenny and team.
Lovely cottage, well equipped with everything you could need. Hot tub is wonderful! Fantastic location so good to be able to walk down to Loch Insh in a few minutes and close to lots of activities we particularly loved visiting the Highland Wildlife Park and paddle boarding on Loch Insh and Loch Morlich.
Fantastic individual property in a stunning, tranquil location. Be sure to pack your binoculars as lots of local visiting wildlife
The beauty of Katchana is that it is timeless. If you want a busy winter holiday or a action packed summer break or in our case, a place to relax and let the world drift past lazily, then Katchana is the perfect place. On clear nights the skies share a billion miles of stars and in the morning, feathered friends gather to be fed at your door. Pine Martins and Deer are also around the property and if youre lucky, the pine Martins come close to the cottage. The beds are comfortable, the living area is relaxing and the kitchen has all you need to suit your needs. And that hot tub!! A perfect way to end or start your day. Love love love this place.

Amazing and private place to stay in the cairgorms with plenty of things to do nearby. Hot tub a real bonus! Wonderful wildlife, seems like every kind of garden bird visits the house along with late evening visits from the resident badger comes right up to the window. Roe Deer out front in the morning and Red Deer in the field at the back at night. Large modern TV and cosy log fire if staying in. Friendly and helpful owner on hand if any problems. Recommended.

Great service and cottage and surrounding area were fantastic. Owner was extremely helpful
Katchana has spectacular views and beautiful wildlife. The owner was extremely kind to us. I left the brand new Harris Tweed purse I had purchased there at the cottage and Mrs. Anderson's housekeeper has agreed to mail it to me! Mrs Anderson told us where we could attend church and much other useful info. She is extremely helpful and pleasant.
